ghost automation: Logic issue

In logic 8 i am getting pan automation and level automation on random audio tracks that show no such automation in the track. I have tried writing over it, deleting it, nothing works. You can't see it in the automation lanes but its there. Its freaking me out; can someone say ghost in the machine.

try having a look at the hyperdraw settings on the selected track in the options menu i think. there are some basic settings for automating level, pan and controller numbers using this hyperdraw setting.
