how nice to be reminded that at the end of the day, this forum is "OURS and not YOURS”.
bellybelle wrote:You say this is our forum. But if it were our forum, why were so many of our forum not even considered before this decision?
you don’t have to agree with my decisions, or understand my reasons, but you are very wrong when you say that I don’t listen what forum members say, and very funny when you call tyranny.sapphic_beats wrote:i just want to see less circling of the wagons and more listening. does that make sense?
have you ever thought that idea of closing the forum is actually YOURS?
yes, members of this forum suggested to lock the forum (and even more than that). not me. or moderators.
i liked the idea, because I wanted to stop all this hate for 2 days, and i stand behind decisions i made.
maybe i was listening the wrong people, and maybe i did mistake, but telling me that i don't listen and that i am doing tyranny is ridiculous.
i am trying to listen all forum members, especially moderatos because I think they are among smartest and most experienced – that’s why I choosed them, but that doesn't mean i can do what everyone says, right? i have to weight, and do what i think is right. some will like it, some will hate it. it will always be like that. it has to.
unfortunately, i can't explain my decisions every time to convince everyone that what I did was right, simply because i don't have time to do it, and i know that leaves you space to be suspicious.
but why be suspicious? can't you just trust me? when did i cheat you?
i know it is a totally naive and idealistic thing to say, but it used to be like that for a first year here - and it worked just fine. i didn't ban anyone (except poor dubmugga), i didnt lock threads, i didnt lock forums, i didnt delete posts. not even one.
but now, when we are 20 000, unfortunately it cant be handled like that any more, because community this big can't be auto-controlled any more. and we have to lock thread, not because i enjoy it, but because i can't spend whole day explaining to someone why he is wrong and why something else is right thing to do. it would be ideal if i could - i agree, but i cant, i am sorry.
thats why we have to use policeman methods: locking threads, locking forums, banning ppl - and we will have to use it much more – now i realize that.
but since most of you who are complaining use dsf only as a resource of information anyway (because discussions are very poor here, right) so i am sure you will not mind if we lock beef and aggressive threads or delete only poisoned posts.
and all of you who will come to preach me about democracy, tyranny, bush and stuff like that….. save my time.
peace.

Dubway, you quoted the people who made the best points against your move to close the forums, and tried to spin them to your own ends.
In the end, I'm just an athlete... sure millions of kids look up to me. I didn't ask for this, they just follow my lead. I'm not a role model because I didn't sign on any dotted line. I'm just a private individual in a public field, I can't be held responsible.
And on and On.
All we want in all of this is for one moderator to step up and disagree, openly if you please, that it was a good idea. Maybe if you get the idea of closing the forums again it could be put to a vote. Or better, if you ever get tired of your job, why not put the forum up for sale, or hand it over to someone capable?
Any number of moves would have been better. There is no explanation, and regardless of whether you think you owe us something or not, you actually do. You can't start some massive movement, or be a large link in that movement and just walk away. You let down everyone within that movement.
Don't like your job, I don't blame you. Offer it to someone else if it's so bad. Remember, that is YOUR solution for those who don't like the rules or the moderation of this forum... just... ya know.. walk away.

The title actually says it all "worldwide dubstep COMMUNITY" - and communities are active, alive and functioning eco-systems. its not easy to build a strong community and I have to say that I felt "LOST". lost in the sense that the forum has created something that's much deeper than the music. I come to read, catch up with online friends, actively and quietly be a part of this "digital" space.
Perhaps there was more noise going on than I realized, maybe I have my filter on and simply can't see it because I've learned to tune it out. I try not to weigh in on the nonsensical topics and stick to the topics of substance and soul ( unless ofcourse it's a comparison of who's the more attractive pop singer, for those who remember that thread.. too much fun for words ).
It's a powerful position to hold to be the epicenter of a culture bound by music. Sure we debate on where it started ( UKG is where I say it began- some beg to differ and that's cool) What's good, whats bad. at the end of the day it is a Community. A vital one.
I just kept scratching my head during the close asking why? and I'll have to read the explanation again to fully absorb it. I checked today simply out of habit and to see if there was a hidden message in there that I missed. Perhaps there was a hyperlink that I passed by. Maybe an email link so I could submit a plea to reconsider the "indefinitely" of the shut down.
So pardon me while I breath a sigh of relief that this community that has become a part of my active life ( and it sounds so weird to even say that) is again up and running. If i hadn't said it before, to the staff of moderators, owner(s) and people who are a part of the community. THANK YOU ALL. The budding music meisters who share their art and who take the time to show appreciation for my feedback while I'm appreciating their music. It's a beautiful thing. Happy Birthday and thank you once again.
Peace

This isn't a divorce mate, it's not like Ivan has just upped and left you with the kids after you spent years building the family home. He's spent 3 years paying for somewhere for us lot to hangout in and share a common interest, you lot are carrying on like a bunch of needy teenagers who've just caught their girl/guy kissing someone else at the school disco.Surface_Tension wrote:regardless of whether you think you owe us something or not, you actually do.
