Couldn't get into that book at all. Made it about halfway through but when the narrative starts to fragment I just couldn't keep up. Keep meaning to go back to it though as I've loved most of DeLillo's other books, particularly Mao II and White Noise. Hope you do better than me LEQ!LEQ wrote:I'm about to start Underworld by Don De Lillo. Had it for ages and have never got round to opening it.
Anyway, just started Jeremy Scahill's 'Blackwater', the expose of the U.S. paramilitary contractors in Iraq. Shocking stuff, to say the least.

Good stuff! Let me know what you think of it...nesslei wrote:no, i haven't... but you just decided my next amazon purchase for me. thanks LEfunkQLEQ wrote:Heh, will do. Have you read Mao II? I loved it.
Cheers beta, I haven't checked out white noise yet either so I might grab that this afternoon.

Bill Bryson - A Short History Of Nearly Everything
Not a fan of his travel books but this is an amazing read. Covers everything remotely scientific and does it well. Swells the brain but amuses you while he does it
Bright Shiny Morning - James Frey
Got sucked in by the hype, and its entertaining enough. Halfway through at the moment all the stories here are interesting, nothings started to come together yet though so I'm hoping there will eventually turn out to be a point to it all
