I visited Cosanti when I was there - Which is a small crop of the early buildings called asps which are half domes - most of which are used as foundries for metal work - to make bronze windbells - they make their money from the sale of these windbells - windchimes...
Remember - they are in the desert outside of Phoenix, AZ - IS HOT...Most of the domes and buildings are built half undergound and with this primitive airconditioning system - there are pipes going deep into the ground and resurfacing at another spot in the room - a fan pulls the hot air down and the air cools; condensates - and then is pulled back up as really fresh cool air..no freon or cooling chemicals needed...it's a gigantic water bong..for your house..
THe whole place embodies the "Future- Primative" idea...
Here is the place I visited..

Here is a bell...

^Why?
It was pretty laid back as far as I can remember....swimming in bollocky, sharing everything etc.
Mind yu communes here generally deteriorated because of smack or Children of God type brainwashing.
I had a trip in New Orleans once due to Easyrider influence...pretty heavy dealing with homosexual advances when yr ripped.

It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just a general comment in relation to using these type of communities as a refuge from society or your problems.RaposaNegra wrote:was that for me or...?datura wrote:Running away from things or trying to ignore them is never a healthy long term solution.

I think it's a way of achieving freedom
Its a way of taking a position and say "I don't like the way we live"
Can you imagine how many people are unhappy with theirs lives? They don't like their jobs, they are always worried about the bills... it's so stressful!
Without even talking about those that have nothing to eat...
I'm not saying moving to a community would change this but imagine if the world was a global eco-village... I think all of our problems would be solved!
maybe is just me dreaming awaken ..

Apathy.....nah. I'm a youth worker, tryin to make things in my community better. Not apathetic just a realist. If you live in a westernised society, accept that to get along your prob gona have to get a job and the rest of the shit that goes with it.
DIR-T-T-TY!
Couple of nights ago I dreamed of future living areas. It was a fair, a presentation of some sort. There were houses floating in the water, and flower bud like ones built on the ground. Organic designs, blending with the nature. We were also served food, mostly fruit based dishes. Felt like being asked a question - how would you feel in environment like that? Pretty neat dream if you ask me.

there is not enough land for everyone on this planit to live like this. It's actually really unsustanable. it's a very elitist way of looking at things and ultimately unworkable.

At the moment on the ground, but irrigation systems, artificial lighting can be stacked on each other like a multi-storey car park. People grow weed in an attic, why not potatoes and chickens?metalboxproducts wrote:haha yeah . where do we grow the food for everyone?Ashley2 wrote:Yes there is.
