I'm sick of it to be honest. The campaign just goes on for too damn long.
I was reading an article on the beeb about the rascism that many people are hiding (or not) at the moment, and that it may just well resurface when people get into that private voting booth.
here
Pretty scary that some people still think like that.

I THINK THAT'S GREAT! i'd pay mega money (if i had it) to be able to vote in the US elections.triky wrote:i got my absentee ballot and voted obama (howver tempted i was to put my own name in, i know i wouldnt win coz i wasnt born in the US). i think it's ironic how i can vote despite the fact that i have never actually lived there (albeit 1 year when i was a kid, but that doesnt really count).
i get to vote in the NZ one though, any day now until the 8th of nov... pretty exciting voting for my wee country's govt at the bottom of the world. lol.
i'm takin this show on the road.

man. ill tell ya. this happened when bush was going for the first time. and he was up against a douche bag tool that all the young people voted for. they were like "this is positive change and we need this man in office blah blah!" revolution style. now i know the outcome of that one was bad. but this time around, lets see we have a guy who yeah is a nice guy. he bought over most of america. hes got a lot of young people and , hate to say it but, his color voting for him.metalboxproducts wrote:well' it's gonna be a massive let down for all the people who think Obama is gonna change much after he gets in.
so then you have good old, and i mean old, mccain. and hes pulling the old people who just trust him. they dont wanna hear anything about obama. conservatives or what not. anti gay marriage. anti abortion. anti anything that doesnt mean church and "handsome" men running this country. ugh.
this country is fucked imho. i cant even stand it. i almost registered this yr bc for a while i was all pro mccain. then i educated myself on him and iw as like. FUCK him. so then i was pro obama. then i realized WHAT AM I THINKING?! if anything, i wish hillary was still running. she had a nice mix of everything. obama isnt going to make healthcare easier. not in these times. every politician says the "right thing" to get the bigger general public and these people pulling for him want change NOW. well....how is he going to change anything? we need someone who can just nurse us back to health. the country. figure out a better way for some things.
i will say this now. if obama gets elected president. and he actually does amazing. and follows through on these changes.....i promise to do something crazy. id ont know what, but ill eat my own words somehow. and if mccain gets elected. then ill go nuts. i cant stand to see another person like him be president. yes i want change, but no i dont want obama. i can see trusting and believeing in him. but theres still a lot of doubt there. so i never submitted my registration forms. im not voting. because neither are worth my time or my vote. simple. honestly. if hillary was still running, then id go without a doubt. and not just cause shes a woman. but because she seemed the most grounded about a lot of serious issues. she was in it to help. not just to be "savior" of the country or some bullshit.
oh and someone was talking about the fact that if obama gets elected, that the white supremecy will be like...in this huge battle to take him down. i dont know the deal on the numbers or seriousness. but ive heard some talk about it being possible. i dont know if this country is ready for such change right now. honestly. i could care less color of skin or sex or what not. its about so much more. BUT i think this country and world is in this seirous crisis right now. and its best to just try and smooth it out and rebuild. im almost scared to see what happens.
no im not in this to debate or say im right, youre wrong. im just stating my opinion. and most people might not agree. if you dont, then sorry if i offend anyone. just putting some thoughts out there.
big up the donut crew!

even if obama only brings in universal healthcare it'll be a change for good, it is naive expecting a sea change in the us if he gets elected though. especially with the budget deficits he'll inherit
+ i think he will win, the bradley effect is overstated considering it's based on one senate election 20 years ago, times have changed

hes not planning on universal healthcare. derrrrr. read up. thats what everyone keeps saying. and i thought that too which is the first reason i was like OBAMA ftw! but then i heard what he was talkin about. and its not what other countries have. no no no. and you think NOW is the time for that?! where would we get all that loot? raising taxes right? no....people cant afford shit right now. not the time for it.alfie wrote:even if obama only brings in universal healthcare it'll be a change for good, it is naive expecting a sea change in the us if he gets elected though. especially with the budget deficits he'll inherit

i think i just cant wait till this is over. the election that is. fuck it. i know whoever gets put into that house is going to end up not succeeding. and if they do, then whoa. kudos for them surprising me! and a lot of other americans. i used to just say i could care less, but the truth is, i care too much and am too passionate about all this. and in the end, i cant think of anyone i want to be president right now.
except this guy....HES a real leader!

he even cares about animals and stuff like that. i <3 arnold!

Nothing new is going to happen. As long as we have the 2 party system going, nothing. Both partys are corrupt and don't do a God damn thing for anyone in America except the giant walmarts and rich fellas with their sailboat hats on. We need new political party's that actual have MY issues at hand. Neither camp is going to do shit as long as the fucking lobbyists have anything to do with it. They will just keep spending money we don't have, and boroughing money to solve the short term solutions. That doesn't do jack shit except prolonge the enevitable. The 3 major things that need fixed NOW are military spending, social security, and health care....Military spending is absolutely ridiculous, only since WW2 have we spent like we do on the military. Something ridiculous, I don't know the number, is spent on military programs, I think it's like 2/3's of the entire government budget....WTF!!!! Seriously we need to stop being the world fucking police and take a stance like the Swiss...neutral. Most of that money could be spent on education, civil improvements, etc. Social Security could be fixed by raising the age limits that people can start recieving SS, and that if you make over a certain amount...YOU don't get SS cause you don't NEEED IT. I don't even want to talk about health care...but I do know It's completely ass backwards...... FUCK these jokes. I will vote Nader cause I have no other choice.... ...The guy means what he says and he would do what neither Obama or Mccain would do, and that would be to Shake up the system, get out the bullshit, he won't be working with lobbyists, and make get people in there who have a different approach to things. and maybe get us a government that can work together and get shit done that needs done. Or maybe he would fuck it all up, regardless, the people need a new fucking party, one that represents me. Fuck the dem's and an even bigger fuck to the repubs.

haha its a joke. i mean. for real. how could you take obama or mccain or arnold seirous? all of them. theyre all just jokes
i will say this though..
ben freeman is right. made an obvious observation right here. the president can help push new laws. can help change things. BUT it has to go through the house, the senate, etc etc. the president could be a freakin ape for all i care. as long as they arent all like anti stuff that matters to a lot of ppl these days. gay marriage, taxes being lowered, abortion...what about an educational system> and help for the poor or needy. without assisting the lazies that make up so much of this ugly country!?
also. last night. while extremely stoned. i figure it out. communism. and seperate the US into 4 countries. that would help make it easier. and each of the 4 have communism. yes yes.
now need i remind you again. i dont mean seriously. but sort of joking around. i mean. honestly my voice isnt gonna matter. neither will yours.

actually Cynthia McKinney is running on the green party ticket this year.
Healthcare would be free for everyone if we weren't fighting in a war - Every US citizen could probably also get a college education for free too if there wasn't a war.
Unfortunately, war is profitable industry, so politicians scratch the backs of their buddies in the military industrial complex and they get the big paychecks for US involvement.. and usually its the arms dealers who manipulate intelligence and lobby the warhawks to ensure further and further involvement in armed conflict.
and seriously perkalerk. that image of arnold is disturbing, archetypal republican - dude in a leather armchair smoking a stogie - now that's something the people can really rally around!!!
edit: I'm not really attacking you, I guess I just didn't catch the joke. it is a joke isn't it?

ha trust me i could care less if you WERE or were NOT attacking me. we all have opinions and a sense of humor. and whatever. no biggie.
trust me. im kidding about the arnold thing. i think hed make a good governor. not a good president. he has some good views. and some bad. thats how politicians work dont they? never fully OK or AMAZING. they can never cater to an entire HUGE country such as the US. theres just too many people. too many areas. too many classes. i mean. its impossible to make everyone happy which is why i really wish it would just be broken down into seperate countries.
and ps. about the arnold pic. it is disturbing. for who he is. in office. BUT i think its a sexy photo. i was posting it to be a typical chick. he looks like hes sitting back enjoyin something other than just that cigar
ok. on the real. education -college- that is, should NOT be fully free. theres no way that would work in this country. BUT it should not be anywhere as expensive as it is. the ivy league schools. fuck them. im not talking about them. im talkin about typical colleges state or community. they should be pretty much inexpensive. its unfair to rob the people of an education. what bc i cant afford school im stuck in this fuckin armpit of "middle class" or "lower class"? it takes a very smart person to be ranked there because just to make ends meet it takes ideas and hard work. its a constant struggle. but go to college and get a degree and oh boy things get easier. if i had a degree i know id be somewhere else. able to bring in more money. have a more serious job. and it just sucks most people suffer bc they just cant afford it.
then theres the healthcare thing. i think it should be free for people like most other countries. it SUCKS. i havent been to a doctor in yrs. being that i am also female. we cant miss apts. but ya know what, me and several women i know havent been able to afford regular check ups. or BC or a lot of other things we need. imagine having a kid with NO healthcare. i know theres help, but then you feel dumb and bad you need to be on WIC or welfare just bc the government makes it so damn expensive to pay for a regular doctor visit or hospital visit. its sickening.
we DO need someone who can relate to the typical average american.
the US has become this money hungry, debt consuming, horrible greedy nation that just doesnt even understand why we are where we are today. i work in the housing market and i see it all the time now. i was in credit cards for bank of america working customer service and saw a lot then too! people want more than they can afford. and think they dont have to pay it back. fuck them. seriously. fuck them. bc theyre ruining our future. and our kids future.
i should stop. this is all just personal opinion. i may or may not be right. but its just boredom coming out online. i like discussing this kind of stuff though....

I value your opinion.
Honestly, whether we're cognizant of it or not, we really are in this together and most times when it comes down to it folks all want the same thing - perhaps in different terms and articulated in different ways but there are shared values and a common vision of the way we would like to see society work itself out. If only so we can sleep more soundly at night.
I can also see how thats a sexy Arnold pic, guess it doesn't take much to sway the female vote
