this "indian style" of dubstep is too much. reppin the heritige + adding flavour n culture.

its a permanent part of the big wid world that is dubstep.

True say Mr Ruckspin, "Beyond Skin" still gives me spine tingles.
This is neither time or the place.

punjabi mc is more bhangra, as opposed to 'urban', it's a different style & has a different target audience compared to dubstep.

if you're gonna use bhangra tracks for yor essay personally I don't think they really count cos obviously indians making indian music are gonna have had indian influences

defo 'highland spring' & 'sholay'!
'camel ride' by plastician
'biryani' by t star

'we got more' by luniz n shock g, this one was a few years before the whole indian samples in hip hop phase

'pathways' by digital mystikz
'can't hold it in' p jam featuring chardonnay and frisco

'pick yourself up danny weed remix' by wiley not sure if this is proper indian or a sample or whatever but the tune sounds kinda eastern to me, so maybe its like an eastern influence on the construction of the sound rather than just a sample, although i know almost nothing about production

'arabian knights' by wonder
'alligator riddim' by danny weed (again, sounds kinda eastern to me)
'tamil dub' can't remember who it's by tho
'snake charmer' by menta (tune!)

kray twins actually produced mundian to bach ke tho, even tho it was on punjabi mc's album
Even less inspiring is the huge percentage of bhangra tracks that are built on played-out hiphop samples.
Get me.
THIIIIIS all the way! plus you got me curious like if I wasnt already about desi and bhangra, some tips for a starter?
Kinda depends what sound you want, as in the garage style remixes/straight indian style bhangra/hardcore old skool punjabi 'folk music' (kuldip manak etc)?

looking at it from a rhythmic point of view will gain you a lot of ground.
ragga/dancehall riddims have a lot of parallels with indian additive timings.

I don't think it's from 'dil se' but def. sounds about 10 years ago.

dil se dil milgaya
tu hai meri dilruba... damn it's really familiar. arrrgh.

gaston, i dig this tune! usually really suspect of desi sampling but this is a banger for sure.
