i think it's a total non issue...this is politics though. if the shoe had been on the other foot, so to speak, i'm pretty sure exactly the same fuss would have been made.
lord help us if the behaviour of our relatives (not even close relatives at that) becomes something we can all be judged on.

Exactly. Or even not just immigrants, but people with broken homes in general. I think in America it's over 50% of marriages end in divorce. Probably a lot of kids tossed around in that type of thing, I know I was one of them and there are a bunch more like me.sapphic_beats wrote:also, the high ups in mccain's party aren't the kind of people whose relatives might be poor, and have to seek asylum in another country.Noesis wrote:I agree that it was certainly an attempt, but I donno if the aunt thing was that great of an outing... I mean, how many of us really know our aunts that well anyways? And even if we do, do we have control over who they are? I mean, to me that was more of a statement that McCain's party isn't "in tune" with real people... he is in tune with rich people with families held together versus the majority of people who don't really have that close of a family where we'd know all about our aunt.UmkhontoWeSizwe wrote:especially with this thing about obama's aunt coming out.
I don't know, maybe people don't read into it that much. That's kind of how I took it though.
I kind of took it like "Well, excuse me Mr. Perfect with your storybook family and legal aunts" haha.

oh mccain's family history (or at least his marital history) is anything but storybook. he cheated on his first wife and the left her for another woman (cindy) and that other woman has been a pillpopping addict.Noesis wrote:Exactly. but at this point, they are grasping at straws in the worst, most illogical way, and not only pandering to the most ignorant strain of americans, but actually COUNTING on them to be ignorant.
it's pretty fucking ugly.

Be prepared for Obama to be painted black racist
when he implements some affirmative discrimination.
If you're white, try to remember how long it was the other way
and cop it sweet when there are mistakes because there will be some big ones.
Already have been apparently
eg Democrats voting down Bush's attempted housing finance reforms when it was realized that there was a pending problem.
No one is without biases and barrows to push.
Obama has camouflaged his well till now...smooth operator.

speaking of "religious wackadoodle", I watched some of the Mike Huckabee show on the Fox News last night and I was absolutely joyous that this guy got eliminated in the primaries.relaks wrote:I would not describe John McCain as a 'Raving Maniac', I would, however, describe him as 'hungry for power'.
Religious Wackadoodle is fine for palin though...
the state and religion should be kept a far away from each other as possible.
Two sides of the same coin if you ask me.relaks wrote:for the record, I don't support either of the presidential candidates.
I kind of liek who obama seems to be now.
I kind of liked mccain 8-9 years ago when I'd read up on him
I don't like either enough.
I'll be writing in Ron Paul. It's the only thing I can do in good conscience. Will my decision make a difference to the nation, no, but gone are the days of me voting for the lesser of two evils.
This country is screwed regardless of who's in the White House -
