Buying Turntables

Can anyone advise me on a good shop or website to buy some decent turntables please. Not looking for anything spectacular or expensive, just decent enough to play and mix records.

you're best off saving a little extra to buy technics - any inferior decks will just become annoying and then you'll have to buy technics anyway

try ebay if you're on a budget cos quality turntables are built to last...
or if you want new - my mate bought his from decks.co.uk recently - good service and price apparently.

i'd highly recommend the numark ttx. had mine for nearly 5 years, used them near enough every day and they're still in perfect nick. got loads of extra features.

save the extra bit for technics mate. you will save money in the long run.

1210's mate is the only way. Anything else you buy will just drop in price instantly whereas if you get 1210's you can sell them on again (considering you keep them in good condition) for pretty much the same price as you got em.

or alternatively, if your buying second hand get pdx 2000s as they can't be that old and will hold their second hand value, and sidestep people taking advantage of the above by selling you old clapped out 1210s. 1210s may be the standard but i have played on some that might as well be citronics they're so fooked

I can't really afford a lot of the stuff on decks.co.uk, although it does seem a good site. Going to try ebay and look for some of the models you've mentioned. 1210s the best bet with technics then?

1210s are the only ones with technics

vestax have a number of high performers, pdx2000s are my favs for just the right amount of added mechanical features but no digi stuff (which imo misses the point of turntables), v good second hand buy

numark have the ttx series which are supposed to be fine but i dont like personally

really its between those three, but i wouldn't go for 1210s second hand unless they were one of the recent models though, not about buying up decks that clubs are chucking out

shit im rockin some stanton str8-30s... im too broke to get some decent tables...

but it goes to show you that its not impossible to produce great mixes with some shit decks...

def get technics, standard. they are standard tables for a reason. you can usually find a used pair for a decent prize. i know cats who bought used technics 15 years ago that still work great. they are tanks.

plus, if u end up not wanting to dj anymore, you will always be able to re-sell them and get your money back.

get them, bloody amazing (1200 same as 1210 different colour

I have about £250 to my name and that includes to feed myself for the rest of the month.
It is so annoying that turntables are expensive, all the dubs are out on vinyl and there are so many tunes I want atm, cant keep waiting for albums to come out, tis driving me crazy.

I like the TTX's modular design (the way you can switch the position of the pitch control / speed buttons)

yeah, pretty innovative...my only complaint, albeit a small one is...they dont have covers for them...but i use them often enough i don't need em'
