Maradona, new Argentina manager ?

Post by mr_vega » Wed Nov 05, 2008 7:13 pm

any thoughts on this?

seems a bit touch and go, he's got the job. there's plenty of managers with no experience getting jobs: tony adams, zola, paul ince (if you call mk dons experience). but this is ARGENTINA we're talking about, plus the small matter of his shady drug-ridden past. still, there's a friendly against scotland on the 19th, ill wait and see.

brilliant footballers often don't make brilliant managers - gazza for instance; fucking immense player, useless manager...

exactly. to go from no coaching or managing, to manger of one of the best teams on the planet just seems like a gamble.

What Argentina really needs is wisdom from a man as notorious for his hand as for his footballing

well it's not as if a national team manager needs to be that great at coaching as all the players are at leading clubs.
apparently there's dressing room disharmony due to the prima donnas in the squad. maradona is a god like figure in argentina so mebs he will put them in their place and develop a good team ethic.
