Questionaire for A2 Media dubstep project: Please help!

Post by tomshughes » Fri Nov 07, 2008 1:41 pm

I'm working on a project at my college for media and am doing it all on Dubstep but there is not a big enough audience within the college to get the research information I need.

So I thought this would be the best way.

It would be a huge help if you could spare a minute and provide me with some answers. Thanks in advance :)

When did you personally first discover Dubstep?

How many times have you seen your favourite producer perform?

Do you buy Vinyl/CD/MP3 or download your music for free?

How often do you go to Dubstep events?

How do you normally hear about these events?
e.g Forums, artist web page or posters/flyers.

Do you listen to any related radio shows/stations?

Which websites would you recommend?

And finally what do you love about Dubstep?

I'd be happy to help:

When did you personally first discover Dubstep?
Ever since Mary Anne Hobbs 'Dubstep Warz' on the Breezeblock, which was what, early 2006?

How many times have you seen your favourite producer perform?
Haven't really got a favourite producer and as I have lived in Cambridge up until the last month haven't seen loads of live sets. However have seen Skream a few times and he is a top producer.
My favourite DJ is N-type though and I've seen him once.

Do you buy Vinyl/CD/MP3 or download your music for free?
I buy CDs

How often do you go to Dubstep events?
When I lived in Cambridge I went to every monthly event that was going (started late 07 I think)
Looking to go to more now I'm down in London though.

How do you normally hear about these events?
e.g Forums, artist web page or posters/flyers.
flyers, club webste and on here.

Do you listen to any related radio shows/stations?
Rinse FM, SUBFM and sometimes dubstep.fm

Which websites would you recommend?
GetDarker.com, Boomkat & of course this one!

And finally what do you love about Dubstep?
Everything from its hardhitting basslines you want skank your cock off to all night, to the deep melodies of some of the more subtle tunes, the versatility of the sound and the fact that there are so many producers around the world trying to do their own thing with it.
