New to Dubstep; but fan already

Post by rapcat » Fri Oct 10, 2008 10:38 am

Yo

I am new to dubstep. I am mainly an underground rap dude but always visited d&b/ tekno parties and shit. Much better atmosphere, more party, less acting tough. A few days ago I got this mix cd called:

revealomatic - No Bull Halfstep (disc B the hard disc)

Hasnt left my ears ever since; especcially love tunes such as

6Blocc- Never Scared
Dj Shy - Big Up An Bun Her
TC - Where is my money (caspa remix) (TC the d&b guy btw?)
Tes La Rok - Codeine
and basically all stuff that this Caspa touched

I have been searching around and found shitloads of mixes, radioshows and everything but I cant really find anything with the same quality/ sound (except the fabric live 37). So I was wondering if you guys could drop some names of similar sounding things and some all time classics, stuff you gotta have and such. I prefer hardcore shit; no softer stuff please :) Love the hard, slow basslines

In return I can maybe help you help you out with some hiphop stuff; in case you got request, questions or whatever

The big names? Depends where you look and what country you are from.

I suppose the Dubstep Wars 7 (dmz, distance, hatcha, loefah, kode9, vexd, skream) are the biggest names - You can add a few to the list like Caspa & Rusko who are obviously very successful in their own right definately pushing the scene out to a different audience.

Anyone who has played at DMZ is also worth a mention I guess too.

Not trying to value people but just going by how popular they are against the masses.

Then each localised area has their own Superstars.

I guess "the big names" are really who you personally look up to rather than value in terms of money and size of their carbon footprint.

yeah totally agree, thats why I wrote it with ' in between. The biggest rap superstars are the worst rappers so I know what you refer to. I am from Rotterdam by the way; like guys like mindsconnect, bong-ra, fff, trasher all that stuff but never know what they are spinning.

Skipped quickly through your list of things; like the rusko and caspa mix best so far, the MaryAnn mix is a bit too jiggy (at least, as quick i scanned it so far)

I am gonna search for dubstep wars 7 than

thx!

If you're new to the music then theses two are essential.

You've gotta know where you've come from to know where you're going.

hey Rapcat

I am happy that you dig my "No Bull Halfstep"-mix. You might also like to check out disc A, you can find it here: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=51513

As a matter of fact, my mixing techniques also come from underground rap, you can take a look of my mixtapes here: http://myspace.com/revealomaniac
