Hot on the heels of announcing line-ups from Split vs. Tilted Disco, Dublime and Subloaded that includes such mind blowing artists such as Robert Hood (live), Appleblim, Pole, Scientist, Kode 9, James Ruskin, Redshape, Mad Professor and more we are now ready to split open your cranium with a fresh bevvy of hot acts set to churn the Bloc rave up into a heady froth of stunning music and complete pandemonium.
First up we have Bpitch’s superb Modeselektor fresh from touring Japan with the mighty Radiohead. Which basically means that their live set is the sh*t! Now if that’s not enough to make you go weak at the knees then feast your eyes on these additions and then go and have a lie down…

BLOC is over the moon to announce a curated showcase from: the Crown Princes of all things sonically unexpected, OVERKILL are notorious for their tent at the world-famous GLADE FESTIVAL. They'll be taking over a stage at BLOC for the night and bringing with them the kind of left-field power and awesome wonder that eludes mere mortal pretenders.
So far BLOC has announced just over half its lineup and the reaction has been overwhelming!
Tickets are available at:
http://www.blocweekend.com
Also, for your audio pleasure: BLOC resident and flagship BaseLogic artist Ed Chamberlain has finally made his entire back catalogue available as mp3! Click here for Ed's myspace http://www.myspace.com/edchamberlain and check out the Sound of the Future.
All this and also The Future Sound of London’s first show in ten years, Jamie Lidell, Afrika Bambaataa and an infinite galaxy still to announce.
BLOC is being held from the 13th – 15th March 2009 – tickets are available at: http://www.blocweekend.com
BLOC in 2009 will be held at the Butlins mega-resort in Minehead, near Bristol.
The thing about Butlins is this – it is actually really good. In previous years the pleasure taken in the holiday-resort side of BLOC may have been a little tongue in cheek. Butlins Minehead features the kind of holiday entertainment fun stuff you can really get your teeth into: It houses the largest water park in the South West, which has a wave pool and a flume that fires you screaming from its jaws at a speed of 40 miles per hour. It has a fun fair with rides that are massive enough to freak you out if you’re the kind to get freaked out by massive rides. And it never, ever rains at BLOC – everyone attending is housed in luxury holiday apartments which surround the main, indoor arenas. It is the utter and the outright elite of holiday resorts and we are exploding with joy to be hosting BLOC there.

must get ticket, last year was the sickest festival i believe ive been to, so well organised and the soundsytems are always sick. Remeber last year in the 2nd stage wen 303 system or sumit were playing sum hard techno and the rig on the right hand side cut out, and it dint matter it was still so loud haha. Big up the bloc weekend lot guna be a nother big weekend i believe! WITH ADDED WATER PARK! YES YES
MIMM Recordings
Well, this year I intend to take it as far as I can go. The line-up is too savage, there's gonna be a problem with people clashing with eachother, methinks!FC wrote:Are you serious?? You were at a different festival to me aswell Dead Rats...2 years running i've had an absolutely brilliant time: the best lineups and the best organised festival I've ever been to: 3 days of purefuckingbrockoutraveeuphoriamayhem!!!Dead Rats wrote:Really? I must've been at a different festival to you then. The only 'roudy'ness I saw, really, was two girls skanking like Demi-Gods to alot of the dubstep there. Alot of people seemed moody. As for the line-up, the people in our surrounding chalets didn't even leave it all weekend, so...special_K wrote:it wasn't at all miserable, it was overly male but less so than your average dubstep night a couple of years ago, the sniffer dogs sounded quiite scary I got there after they'd left but the guy who sorted us out with the chalet ( missed the official booking) said he had them inside his car crawling over his lap etc, sounded like a close shave for him to but he entered with everything he arrived with somehow. Nothing wrong with the atmosphere I thought it was quite roudy
ive posted this photo before but fuck it, it captures Bloc for me..on the monday morning after about 3 hrs sleep since fri and having had the time of my life, i just had to leg it up a sand dune and scream YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I like the way you don't have to carry all your tent and shit as well.

Well there's the serious issue that you may have no brain cells left afterwards and you may have to lie down in a darkened room for about 3 yearsDead Rats wrote:Also, I had a big dilemma as to whether to go this or the Bangface Weekender. Then the though struck me - Why not go both?
actually I quite like lying down in darkened rooms.... and I don't need brain cells to do that...... Sounds like a plan

Haha, the "Oh Christ, I want to sit in a darkened room until this goes away completely, ohgodohgod" feeling is almost like a friend to me now.my name is not billy wrote:Well there's the serious issue that you may have no brain cells left afterwards and you may have to lie down in a darkened room for about 3 yearsDead Rats wrote:Also, I had a big dilemma as to whether to go this or the Bangface Weekender. But yeah, I wasn't feeling too clever after last years Bloc. That's half the fun of it, though!

"HEY YO YOU BLOC LOT
Radical salutations;
Well, it's the darkest middle of bleakest midwinter, the days are only fifteen minutes long and the nights last a lifetime. We've been buried in snow, drowned in slush and lost our slippers.
BUT STILL WE BLOC ON:
Wild thanks to the ticketholding BLOC massive, it warms the cockles to see the ranks of the cult of the BLOC assembling before our very eyes.
Well, now's as good a time as any to introduce some of our finest pals from across this green and pleasant land who will be hosting their own parties-within-a-party at BLOC, the greatest party of them all;
Trundling down from Scotland we have those brave Celtic warriors NUMBERS - featuring dubstep champions and WARP record signings
MARTYN - HUDSON MOHAWKE - RUSTIE
Winging in from Berlin we have the out-there brothers, OVERKILL and we are so very happy to be welcoming RICHARD DEVINE to their lineup
Wobbling in from the cold, we have the world famous GRECO-ROMAN party fellowship, fresh from their aquatic adventures at Bestival and featuring the madcap genius of none other than Isle of Wight enthusiast ROB DA BANK and new talent DRUMS OF DEATH
Exploding in the sky, we welcome the backbone of London's techno scene - SPLIT AND TILTED DISCO. These intrepid techno dancefloor punishers had their own stage at Glastonbury this year so its a treat to welcome them in, spearheaded by their longtime resident and abstract dance icon COLIN DALE.
Cartwheeling through time and space, we have East London's grandest italo-disco crew COCADISCO featuring a wild selection of their resident selectas!
Also added to the lineup - BUSY P - owner of Ed Banger records and a deucedly slick DJ to boot.
Finally, we're proud to announce our 10 strong squad of BLOC resident DJS for 2009...
Billy Nasty
Radioactive Man
Ed DMX
Jerome Hill
Luke's Anger
James Tec
Rebel Intelligence
Joe Hart
Oliver Way
George 'The Skull' Hull
Sorry if this all seems like too much to take in but we can't help it if BLOC is a wild, exciting ride to a new and better dimension. Just hold tight and hope you can get through to the other side.
