Real-time sequencing?

Post by drunk » Sat Nov 22, 2008 8:15 pm

To give a little background, I've been using FL for about a year, maybe more, played guitar and bass for 7 years, and am currently 17. So I have a reasonable amount of musical knowledge.

But, like others here, am broke as fuck, and can't afford a MPC or something similar.

So, could anyone suggest software (never used Reason or any of the other production software) that has a feature like this? Optimally being able to be done with a regular computer keyboard. Thanks.

You could use a regular computer keyboard in FL Studio to trigger patterns, just bang out individual notes, do live sequencing, and record it all as midi data. Just select "Typing Keyboard to Piano" in the options.

i belive any DAW could do what a MPC can do, the only thing your missing is knobs and pads to screw whit in RT.
So if i where you and where low on cash i would buy a cheap midi drum pad controller on Ebay for 30$ or some other controller and then you can do your RT editing.

and if you want to i can show you how i do my RT editing in FL.

Everyone's recommending controllers when all he wants is to use his computer keyboard. Like I stated, you can use a computer keyboard in FL Studio just like a midi controller. You just have to select it in the options.

Here are a couple of links that might help you with it if you're still lost:

You guys are missing the point. I know how to use the keyboard to play notes. The problem I have is having a good idea in my head and then having to use that clunky midi sequencer to map out notes. Is there any way I can play the notes on my keyboard and they are recorded as midi?
