***FREE DOWNLOAD*** Double Helix - "Future Proof" ALBUM PROMO MIX - clicky clicky

Image

'Future Proof' is the full-length debut of Edinburgh band Double Helix. It is an album dedicated to tracing and interpreting outbreaks of the future. A fusion of dubstep, hip-hop, breakbeat, techno and punk influences, the album has been three years in the making.

We are pleased to offer a promo mix of tracks from the album free of charge to all forum members.

The album is out now via our own Audiodacity label, with CD copies available direct from Nu-Urban Music, as well as Juno, HTFR, etc...

We are really interested in hearing people's responses to the album. Please feel free to leave comments / praise / abuse here, or on our MySpace site: www.myspace.com/doublehelixonline

Double Helix are:

Sola Perplexus

Veteran Edinburgh dubstep / techno / d&b performer Sola Perplexus (AKA Morph/ Morphamish) has held residencies at the legendary Pillbox and Obscene nights, and has played out around the UK as a solo artist over the last twelve years. He has previous releases on his own label Audiodacity, and on Labrat Audiochemicals. His live sets range through breakbeat, techno, drum and bass, dubstep and hardtek. Double Helix showcases his love for all things dubstep(ish).

Texture

A performance poet, affiliated with several of Edinburgh's respected poetry collectives (Big Word, Chemical Poets), Texture's lyrics come somewhere between the freeform fuck you's of a speed-addled Mark E. Smith and the arrhythmical science geekery of Kool Keith and El Producto. He runs the Weaponizer writers collective.

Also featuring...

Anneke

The album also features the exquisite vocal talents of Anneke on some tracks. She's an edinburgh based singer/songwriter/instrumentalist and woman of mystery...

PRESS:

“One of the most inventive pieces of British hip-hop that we’ve heard in a long, long time.”
- MARY ANNE HOBBS (BBC Radio 1, re. ‘Complacency’ – album secret track)

“… An innovative sound that kicks you squarely between the eyes, every time you think you know where it’s going… Double Helix are pretty hot at what they do. Their grimey electronic sound, infused with energy and innovation, is a welcome change from much of the formulaic mediocrity that has arisen out of the grime and crunk scenes of late... Intrigued? You should be…”
- CLASH MAGAZINE (http://www.clashmusic.com)

“Hints of distorted guitar wail sit alongside head-fuck techno reminiscent of Chan 'n' Mikes Records output, the hurry-up urgency of blistering breakbeat grime, the descending bass of d&b and distended electronics.”
- THE SKINNY (http://www.theskinny.co.uk)
