Let me be clear about one thing first and foremost - I hold these people and archetypes I portray in the highest Respekt.

That being said...

I find this response more intriguing than it was before you edited it, and worthy of a response, but still very judgmental, dogmatic, and lacking credible worth without coming from a proper position to hand out such judgment in my opinion.

1st off - I don't really think those deceased will really care one way or the other - perhaps they may even be honored from their place, that they are remembered. And I do not feel the promotion of Dubstep is solely the promotion of myself - I feel Dubstep is much larger than I am, and a worthy cause to promote to the public at large and reprazent.

Secondarily, I am well aware of the iconography I have chosen, and my reasoning for choosing such symbolism. Quite simply put - I realize fully the impact these images have as A REMINDER of certain thoughts, but do not particularly hold any image or icon as containing more Buddha than any other, and to miss this point seems so dogmatic to me, it is difficult to comprehend.

I put these images on clothing for the simple reason that I wanted to see them there, and I am compelled to do such, whether or not you like it. The same way I am compelled to put certain tracks in my sets, or to make the music I make. I like to be surrounded by certain archetypes - because they serve as a reminder to me. But I do not assume that they hold more God/dess essence than anything else. To do such is foolhardy in my opinion.

In my experience - spirituality is something that is lived - it is in all aspects of my life - but especially my Art, and my music. It is all interconnected - and like Enochian Magick, it is something that must be practiced, not held up to some perfect ideal, I am prolific with my art, because it is forever evolving - and I do not pretend to make it "perfect" before I put it out there, because then nothing would ever be done - but do what you please with your music and art, it is your choice.

Which brings me to my conclusion, I do what I do because I feel compelled to by an unexplainable force - and whether or not you like it or dislike it - I will continue to do it.

Thanks for your thoughts on this subject however - even though negative - you have helped me come to a greater realization of why I do what I do. At first - I must admit - I was taken aback, and questioned - "why are these perspectives being brought to me?" - but then a dear friend helped me realize - it is not necessarily entirely about me - it is also about you and the lesson you may have in my response.

So Namaste to you Tangka - may you find the light you seek =]]

Earthling wrote:First of all, I am personally against the use of images of deceased people (Bob Marley) for self promotional purposes. Your promoting dubstep is still self promotion.

It think it is important to suggest you drop the Buddha, and Tibetan iconography. These are powerful spiritual images, and your use of them projects the fact that you have no care and respect for them. This reflects on your own mind in the forms of unawareness and detachment from yourself and your surroundings. Using these images in this way is a strong negative influence on yourself. This does not have anything to do with my opinion or critique about your artwork. It is just a fact that your imagery is general chaotic mayhem and these elements do not mix.

This does, however, go to show me that you either have a minimal sense of aesthetics, or that you are very very careless with how you create your designs (i.e. just grabbing the closest thing that looks cool and slapping it together).

Your work shows major overall imbalance, and a great many mistakes you have made using your editing software.

Please, forgive me for saying it as I see it, but are you sure you want to put a lot of energy into this? Maybe you should practice some more and develop your own style. I find it incredible that you're trying to sell this stuff. It looks to me like your first attempt at using photoshop / illustrator.

I have been making music for 10 years and haven't felt like selling anything yet. I wish to master my art first, and I believe in quality vs. quantity.

well, these are my thoughts. good luck

. . . . clearly u got talent with design, but can the evolution of dubstep style please not get infiltrated by the whole "look i got a tattoo on my t-shirt" syndrome thats currently sweeping the US? try to avoid the leafy fractal backdrops is what im sayin, and use symmetry sparingly. definitely some interesting ideas wit some of these, concentrate more on the content though.
I dont know who this is lol - but I am not done incorporating important personalities living and dead in my designs - thank you for your thoughts and constructive feedback.

i took the time to open to you, not to insult you, lol.

i would define spirituality in a similar way. but it doesn't help to be ignorant of the age old traditions handed down. i am sharing with you what i have been taught directly by people who, although obviously not gods, have dedicated their entire lives to meditation.

what I mean, okay, about using deceased people for self promotional purposes, is = do you know what bob marley thinks about dubstep or your art or anything, or if he consents to being used thus? that's the kind of respect i'm talking about. i dont think he's a ghost that's going to actually see your art and be pissed off lol, but in stead, this manifests within your own perception, as I explained with the buddha, as carelessness.

It comes down to a matter of opinion about what artwork is worthy of these images of Buddha or Bob. But your artwork overwhelms these images, the images becoming an accessory to your piece, and I think that is wrong.

That is all.

My former post should speak for itself anyway. And I dont know what you're talking about editing... ? I never edited that post.

edit: and make no mistake, my post was about you, not myself, and I had hoped it would be helpful or revealing.

he's just trying to make a buck.
They'll sell heaps at KMart.

Flip thru lots of this type of diahorrea/collage graff in art mags...find it boring. imo there will never be any "dubstep" clothing or fashion...

I think I might have a go at downloading some brush packs from deviantart and slapping them around in a symmetrical matter and include the odd portrait of a well known figure who happens to be deceased - I mean how hard can it be?

And you know what what bob marley thinks? still judgmental and dogmatic bro.

It is a matter of opinion which you have made yours abundantly clear - until you post something showing you have the skill and know how to put me in my place and humble me - shut up.

cuz i'm not going to stop. Even if buddha himself or bob marley came to me complaining.

namaste (cuz i still do recognize that you are the infinite light that is all places including within myself ;]])
