We should have a SNH 'beard off'. Whoever can cultivate the thickest, manliest beard by 2009 wins the respect of every ninja here.

i was doing really well with the old catfish bits in the summer but got too messy at dmz and woke up in the 3rd bass booth with one side chewed off

This. I actually get asked for ID more often when I *haven't* had a shave.

Most years
I grow a goatee over summer
to stroke
whilst I think
about things
other than work
when i come back
I'll shave it off,
over a few weeks
(cop the comments....yer know...mad professor...village idiot)
then gradually start shaving it off,
sometimes over weeks.
Once,
upon eventual redenudation,
no-one notices
except the few people
whom I usually think of
as nice but intrusive.
the point?
soul and manhood
humanity amongst beings
life within existence
the undistinguishable, this
Yeah,
beards are drool.

A tip for those who are trying to grow one out but fear the itch, when you shampoo the beard (assuming you're not a stinky hermit) use a liberal amount of hair conditioner. Also the missus will thank you.
But yeah it's a must in Maine. It gets cold here. We call it "the winter coat".

I'm organizing a "Facial Hair February" contest at my job in 09. We got some real lumber jacks so I probably won't win the "Unbearable Forest" award but I'm HEAVILY favored for the "Pubescent Sanchez" award.

Every time I grow a beard, my psoryasis gets really bad and I have to shave it off. Plus, my skin breaks out. I do love having a beard though when I got one but having these complications doesn't work for me.
