Didn't see this being posted over here, but if it is - delete it
hi there dubstep massive.
wanna tell you a story about rusko and dub thievery. but first a few words bout myself. I ve been producing since 2005, got some raggajungle releases on walkingstick
http://www.myspace.com/walkingstick
and dub bullet
http://www.myspace.com/dubbullet. In 2007 started makin dubstep, got my tunes played hardly by mate djs. but sending dubs to uk turned out not that good for me. as my style was rather 'dub police oriented' at that time, i sent my dub called 'Power skank' to rusko. there was no answer, but few months later there appeared a video
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...ideoID=33084031 of rusk playin my tune. there were some vocs like "rusko banton" over it. it seemed to be kinda tease. then there were some radioshows:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...ideoID=33084031 (second tune)
http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=53923 .
so in the tracklist my tune is written as "Rusko - Network". then i've heard Afterdark's show with "Rusko - skank out" tune, which also turned out to be my own Power Skank with rusko vocs over it.
so it seems to be clear now.
rusko is using my track with the 'rusko banton' vocs over it as his own, and even giving away dubs to other guys.
i do not want to advertise myself this way, let my music do this for me. i just want you mates to know, that the dubs you are listening to and playing can be not exactly what you think they are. and your favourite artist can be a thief stealing dubs.
to prove my words, here are some audio clips from the tune, full 320 of it and an FLP zip of the project. feel free to play it out if you like and remember, this track is 'Smokah - Power Skank'.
http://sharebee.com/946c83e1 - tune
http://sharebee.com/02c18f16 - few patterns
http://sharebee.com/fee38573 - project
please guys, copy this post to your blogs and wherever you might like. Spread the word! its the only way to the truth!

Rusko isn't that stupid.
The guy sent him a dub and he played it out. As for it being credited to Rusko on radio well like Plastician already said it could have been someone elses error.
Plastician wrote:just a note:
not sure where it's been tracklisted, but if it's radio one i can tell you for one that it could have been a mistake on the part of somebody working at the station - not necessarily rusko trying to claim a track as his own. tracks got called all sorts of random shit and producers were wrong shedloads of times on my tracklists. they write them down shorthand whilst the mix is being recorded and then fill in the blanks when its done - sometimes when the dj aint there at all.
i doubt rusko is claiming other people's tracks as his own - if he wanted to do that he could just remake the tune himself.
he probably just dropped some samples in over a mix he did, just like i do on 99% of my mixes.

Putting the whole stolen tune accusation aside for a moment, what really puzzles me is: Is it common practice that people playing out tunes from others dont even notify them about it? Afaiu Rusko didnt even tell the guy that he was playing his tune in clubs/on the radio...

imo kinda selfish. If you get a track it also has a file name and prolly its also tagged. I think Rusko is forgetting how powerfull internet can be if this is the truth.

yep it is true.
Has happened to me before when I showed an artist my track (unfinished) and it was played without saying a word.
Has happened to others I know also.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Do you personally know him?
If it was a one off play and someone got the name wrong I might believe it. Because it has happened a number of times I find it hard to believe.
Isn't it a bit cheeky to just change someone's tune and add vox over it? fuck that I would be fuming considering the bloke didn't even hear a word from him.

No that's just my opinion but I don't know for sure.
If he jacked a tune then it's purely out of order.

I think its out of order to play som1s tune a number of times with ur vox over it without even getting back to the guy who gave him it.
Busted.

Well this is sad shit..... What about the idea of people building a scene together, because they all love the same kind of music? Seems like its going down the drain. Whoever becomes big is not willing to share anymore. Or at least give some credit.

Figure posting on a forum is sufficient, seeing as that's how the guy wanted to do it. Of course, he could've just sent Rusko an e-mail or something asking to clear it up before making a massive drama....

what if he thought the 'email' might get no reply?

Well, then he posts on a forum saying "I tried to e-mail, but got no reply, so I'm being forced to take the ugly route".
There's no need to jump straight for finger-pointing and name calling when there are still polite avenues to go down that don't involve trying to ruin the reputation of someone who has still very possibly not done anything wrong...
It sounds like a big mixup and would've probably all just been laughed off by both parties if all this had been done the right way, don't you think?

of course it sucks that the tune is getting played, but from the tracklist with wrong title, nobody will find out who really made the tune (e.h. the kiss show). that can happen and of course isn't good, but people make mistakes.
maybe from now on rusko will pay more attention how he names the tunes he has on his laptop, so that radio producers get the tracklist right.
besides this you also have to realize, by looking at rusko's gig-list, he is one busy dj. mad!! so many gigs, incredible. and that some things get forgotten while being in the midst of hardcore dj-ing and touring round the world is quite possible.
