LoDubs ---->DAY ONE------->SPRING 2009 UPDATE

LODUBS NOW TO SPRING '09 UPDATE

So, as the Cardopusher is being released next week (Along with his 12" on Hyperdub, congrats Cardo) the time has officially come to fill all in on what is just around the corner. here's the quick rundown:

LoDubs Presents Starkbass: A DJ mix by Starkey

the project that began life as a 12" collab with Virus Syndicate (Which sadly, will not be happening)has now morphed into a full release, and the first to fully demonstrate Starkey's hybrid style in a mix. Details are a bit scetchy on this one, as the master is about 2 weeks away from completion, but here is a list (off the top of my head) of contributors and co-conspiritors:

Drop the Lime, Bombaman, Blackdown, Toast, Rafertie, O-dessa, Joker, Jakes, Dubsworth, DZ, Zomby, Buk Buk, Syntonics, Jammer, and a bunch more. It will also contain a slew of Starkey dubplates and VIP's, all mixed live. We can't really say exactly what bits will make it in, but one thing is for sure, it is going to kill.

Don't worry about finding it in the shops either, as it is going to stand out from anything on the shelves. It is set to be packaged using a combination of colored jewel case material, with a striking design inspired by a bit of gitched-out Italian futurism and broad propaganda style text, ala Wham-make it big!

In the midst of the chaos that release creates, we will also be rolling out a pile of 12"s:

Hoodz - Bad Mind/Clash - LoDubs-1209011

Our first 6Blocc 12" since the second Lo Dubs release, only this time teamed up with LA's U-Ome. "Clash" is on our Myspace player.

Djunya - Elevate/Puja Karna Sangit - LoDubs-1209012

Finally, an opportunity to work with one of the finest practitioners of the sound from the 415. This is him at his steppy best, and with a bright, optimistic air to boot. "Elevate" is in the myspace player too.

O-Dessa - Deeper/Million Dollarz - LoDubs-1209013

Starkey turned us on to this UK based artist when we where hunting for material for his mix CD. As the name states, this is a turn for the Deeper for LoDubs, but in its own way no less ferocious, especially with regards to the drums, which on the title track are like an ultra creative combination of dirty south rhythms and the inner workings of some of burial's material. "Million Dollars" is up for hearing on the player, but you'll have to leave "Deeper" to your imagination for the time being.............

El Rakkas - Seas of Disease/I & I - LoDubs-1209014

Austria, it turns out, has its own thing too. We really can't imagine anything thicker than these tunes right now, in their own way. When we first started playing these we thought of them more as beginning of the night type tracks, but once properly amplified, they simple fill every crevice of a room with low-end, as if you jumped into a Chuck E Cheese ball pit filled with Bass bubbles. We noticed people wandering towards the dance floor, as if hypnotized by some pied piper. That's when we knew we had to release this. "I&I" is on the player as well, but just wait 'till you hear it with all it's powers on wax, along with Seas of Disease. We will be releasing a remix 12" of this as well, featuring LV, and others yet undetermined.

Syntonics - Material/Rock tonight (Bombaman Remxes)
LoDubs-SR-2

I guess we should have just called the Special Request arm of LoDubs "Bombaman records" because he's got enough of his special brand of Bionic bassline hybrid tunes to start his own sub-genre (Which, if you've heard a lot of his stuff, he practically has already). "Material" is in the player.

--------->

Now, we are also incredibly pleased to be announcing the release of the first full length from the one known as Clubroot. Some of you may remember him from a promotional mix that lit up the Dubstep forum back in the spring. He went to ground after that, and many wondered what became of him. Well, he's been working on material, and we've been discussing the options. The full length that will culminate from this effort we believe will be worthy of coating in gold and placing on the highest hill. It is simply mindblowing, and I am glad I am writing about it last, because words simply escape me. "Talisman" is on the player, and will be accompanied by 9 other tracks on a full length, along with a succession of 12"s featuring tracks from the release and remixes.

....And that will take us through spring. I'd like to say more, but we are supersticious of a jinx. more details on release dates as moment is upon us.............
