Fortified for a Bristol blowout in the form of Headhunter and
Rekordah. Pushing the future sound forward, Rekordah's music has been
described by himself as 'a culmination of multiple pockets of
innovation', drawing on post-Dilla beat palpatations, the warm tones
of electronica and more than a healthy dose of Boom-Bap to keep the
head-nodders noddin. He is currently working on an album with Baron
Zen, which is set to be released on the innovative LA Hip Hop label
Stones Throw and is also running his own night in Ode London Towne:
Pollen, which has given space to Mike Slott and Notts' own Lone
amongst others. In the saturated market of unbalanced beats, Rekordah
is a cut above the rest, which you'll hear when he brings his eclectic
aesthetic to the Fortified Sessions. What can be said about
Headhunter? A young man deep in the game, he has blew minds and chests
the world over with furious productions like 'Sushi Brain', 'Descent'
and 'Sleepwalker'. Last years 'Initiate' EP turned more than a few
heads, and his recent longplayer on Tempa, 'Nomad', delves deep into
into the influences of Basic Channel/Chain Reaction, 90's era
Metalheadz and the classic garage moves of early Ghost and Tempa
productions, but always with one foot firmly in the future. A regular
plate spinner at Forward among other staple Dubstep nights,
Headhunters DJ abilities transcend the rewind workouts of his peers in
favour of mantaining a bass-heavy groove. If you want to know where
Dubsteps moving to, just take a listen to his work in the here and
now. As ever, the illusive Electric Eliminators will be in tow
providing dubplate pressure and dubious behaviour, joined by our good
friend Jongerre, and the mighty Bass Warrior sound system,so knock
back the merry tonic and come and join us for an evening of bassbin
abuse.
