record pool for stateside dubsteppas?

Post by ghettobot » Thu Dec 08, 2005 4:02 am

i dunno if it would be more trouble than it's worth, but is anyone interested in this idea? if it were to cut down on record costs (i.e. shipping!), it maybe worthy.
likely would have to find a trusty distributor, etc (rooted?).
any thoughts?

I'd be into it, as long as the distributor behind it was *good*.

Anything to cut down the shipping costs a little would be welcome - my last order from blackmarket consisted of 3 12" and came to very nearly US$50

why not try contacting the lablel/producers. im sure some would be more then willing to send em for a better price. that way we sell em 2 u for more then we do 2 the store, but u still pay less from us then u would from the store..

every 1's a winner

'm down.

Lack of access to fresh releases and Canadian customs is KILLING me

Random Trio's suggestion is fantastic. Labels selling straight to the pool would be making twice as much money as going threw their P&D no?

If anyone is in San Fran, Reverb has started carrying dubstep and grime.
I'm not sure who is their distributor but their prices ain't too bad. 3 platters set me back only $25-30

www.forcedexposure.com has dmz, hotflush, tectonic, army, rag&bone, etc. etc. etc.

not cheap but much cheaper than ordering from the UK.
hopefully soon we'll have Tempa and more...

I'd be down fer sure. unfortunately fe's hotflush selection is not juno. hyperdub is a key label that only sells from the UK as far as I can tell.
it seems to me that while LA has a dearth of a scene, SF is hoppin' to the dubstep sound every once in a while.. they've got tigerbeat6, too, which promotes good shit.
give me a pm if ya need!

Most places. Tempa deals with either SRd or S.T Holdings in the UK. Those two distributors are the main sources distributors on this side of the pond that get alot of things that end up in North american record stores...
