um, no. don't want to speak for the whole country (!) but personally ali g's trajectory for me went like this:

*ali g appears on the rubbish 11 o'clock show and stands out cuz he isn't rubbish and has novelty value
*ali g's piss-take of public figures starts to get a bit tired cuz it's the same joke every time - he's a bit stoopid, dysee?!
*ali g chat show launches and is still just flogging a dead horse

my main problem is: bearing in mind he's cambridge-educated and apparently has v little previous contact with anything at all 'street', is he actually taking the piss out of credulous politicians and wannabe wigga types, or is he just taking the piss out of the people he's parodying? if the latter it's kinda dodgy... i dunno.
