there are few producers/djs within the dubstep scene who get people moving like this guy.Abs wrote:Erm..Dj Snipaz wrote:Innovating the dubstep scene
How exactly is Rusko, of all producers.. 'innovating the scene'?
sure, his music might not be as deep as Mala, Pinch etc, but hes not going for that, and not everybody wants that.
i think its pretty obvious he is taking the scene in a different direction to most, he makes dubstep more accessible and introduces it to a different audience.
whilst i love all aspects of dubstep, dont get me wrong, theres tunes within this genre that are for sitting and meditating on, and theres tunes that are there for going absolutely apeshit to.
just because rusko is at the "dancey" end of this spectrum doesnt make him any less of a producer or an innovator than the "deeper" guys out there!
he describes his own music as party music, which hits the nail on the head...
BIG UP RUSKO!
I'm a fan!
He gets a bad wrap for doin bangers/dancefloor stuff, but he's a done a few deeper ones too along the way... If everyone just produced the same shit, the scene would be boring! I love the fact I can stick on some crazy brock out Rusko track, and then switch it up for some deep Mala riddims... The beauty of Dubstep!

How is it that a Rusko tune is obviously his then? Seriously, it's because his style was new, and original, and his. Who gives a fuck if you don't like it mate, as kidcazual or someone said "just cos you dont like it dont mean its shit"Abs wrote:Well done for quoting the definition, I hope now you can see that Rusko does none of those two things.thedankman wrote:in·no·va·tion Listen to the pronunciation of innovation

Rusko's made absolute hugeness. Anyone who says Cockney Thug didn't beat the shit out of them the first time they unexpectedly heard it in a dance is a liar. Acton Dread is ALWAYS in my bag. Sick man.
seriously. acton dread is too sick. the man obviously is overflowing with talent.
stuff like 2naq is sick too. I can't really listen for all that long but its just a matter of taste isn't it? acton dread isn't really that clever...just some deep 4x4 with some 'jah' samples...its just happens to really appeal to me.

but seriously, being a party animal and making people go nuts on the dancefloor has nothing to do with innovation.
i kissed a girl remix definitely makes dubstep more accessible for masses, couldn't disagree to thatTightLife wrote:i think its pretty obvious he is taking the scene in a different direction to most, he makes dubstep more accessible

"f*ck dubstep. It's played almost exclusively by self indulgent wannabe losers"

I'm gettin sick of the amount of grief Rusko keeps gettin on this forum, he's doin his own thing and a lot of people love it, just because you don't doesn't give you the right to come on here and make loads of sarcastic comments about his music because let's face it at the end of the day he's the one gettin tunes released, he's the one doin the fabric live and essential mixes and he's the one being asked to remix huge selling tunes whether you like them or not. I'm not claiming to like every single tune he makes but there's a time and a place and I've seen him kill dancefloors no matter the size. I remember when he was playin tiny venues in York at reggae nights for god sake and now he's smashin warehouse parties nearly every weekend. Just give the guy a break
Sorry for the rant
EDIT - One last thing to think about before you dismiss his music. The music people make is an extension of their personality and if anyone has ever met/seen/watched Rusko live you'll see why he makes the music he makes

He sometimes make fuckin good tracks, he sometimes make some shitty tracks... "Love is real", "Cockney Thug", "Lion's Paw", "Hornz Cru", "SNES Dub", "King George", "Acton Dread" => some great great tune, not to say classics! I love when he makes his more dubby tings

Everyone is forgetting Original cut. What a tune!
Big up Rusko.
He seems like such a nice guy aswel.
I don't like the majority of benga's tunes, but i don't make 10 page hate threads about it, because i can see that loads of other people love his stuff, so he must be doing something right.

I am not so much into the guy as of late, but i wont discredit his obvious talent and contribution to the music.
