Legal Downloads Recommendations thread (NOT FREE)

Post by badga tek » Tue Jan 13, 2009 3:45 pm

I thought I'd start a thread for people to recommend good, legally downloadable Funky tracks.

Few caveats though.

1. I stress the word legal here. In most instances, this will mean paying to download the tracks. Don't post up links to illegally downloadable tracks. This should be about helping to support the artists making great music.

2. Ideally, this shouldn't degenerate into "here's a Funky track I've just made, download it here and give me feedback."

3. This isn't meant to encourage people to be lazy in looking for new music but to help spread awareness of tracks which are out there and which are unlikely to get a vinyl release in the forseeable future.

4. I'm calling it Funky. If you want to call it something else then safe, please do. But don't abuse me for choosing to call it Funky.

I'm just gonna rccmnd shit I like / play & is on the vibe I'm on, might be Funky, might not, so;

Fanatix - Hi Grade

track 3 on this EP - rude House with a pure dirty bline!

Socafrica - Sub Low

Most downloads are between 99p and 1.99 maaaan.

Anyway, cheers for showing me that high grade track, fukkin rough!

The thing with house is you have to go through so many tunes to find gems. I used to DJ Garage and you would go straight to the garage section and listen to the right tunes. House has so many different types of sounds and subgenres. Its hard to find stuff I actually like.

ruuuuude tune! big up man

also so good to see Jeremy Sylvester back up in the game. his mix of Taio Cruz is also massive (apart from the horrific latin piano mc bridge)

Yhman, theres a few good tunes under the Socafrica name, 'Take Ya Top Off' is sick as well, but he does that isn't it, he'll put some reall cack in the middle of a good tune

That Fanatix is sick - most of there stuff is shite tho tbh, but the 1st 1/3rd of the tune is redundant, I play it from like the start of the 49th bar! :o & there is still plenty of time before the drop!

Thats the thing with House, there is SO much of it & you really gotta take the time to dig thru it find the gems!

I've been listening to the new(ish?) Moodman as well, Det.riot '67 - fucking ill!

'Heelllloooo toooomoorrooowwww - goodbye yes-ter-day'

Also feeling the Raw Artisitic Soul Vocal Dub of Blackcoffee & Bucies 'Turn Me On'

That Fanatix tune is rude.

Proper tough vibes. Reminds me a bit of 'One Time For Your Mind'

(If you hadn't guessed my reference points for house are pretty limited  )

Also available on Boomkat but they don't take paypal so I stopped using them.
