Someone's been watching too much mangaDJ Sinc Vision wrote:this is one of the few films that ever put me to sleep. for me it just kinda meandered quietly, not really doing much. there were some positives though, i liked the last 15 minutes or so, the cinematography is great, plus the soundtrack is really good (the ending credits tune is sublime).spooKs wrote:The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Sick film, Casey Affleck is incrediblore.

Personally I thought the tension was incredible, and Casey Affleck's performance completely blew me away. Plot is reminiscent of The Talented Mr. Ripley in a way, but much more understated. I think I could watch it again soon to be honest, I feel it's one of those films you can get more out of from repeated viewings.
Just watched Once. Nice, simple, romantic little film I never would have liked a couple of years ago but I thought it worked really well. Couple of the songs are really nice and it's just all very, well, nice.

don't know if anyone has made a comment about this movie but I just watched the curious case of benjamin button and I wont even lie, I was choking back tears pretty much the whole damn movie. LOVED IT. and brad pitts fine assness didn't hurt either.

This weekend:
Buffalo Soldiers - Good, quite funny at times, pretty tense... Ed Harris is great, as is Scott Glenn. Lots of twists - seemed like it needed lots of attention for a Friday night smokeup.
Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb - AMAAAAAAZZZIING. Can't believe I'd never seen it.
King Of Kong - had to watch it on my own as my housemates flat refused to watch a documentary about geeks playing computer games. For a film about Donkey Kong it's amazingly exciting. Really didn't expect to be shouting at the screen at the tnuc who holds the record.
Tess - Roman Polanski's Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Dodgy westcountry accent from the (possibly Russian?) female lead. Good though, amazingly intense at times for a PG.
