please help me get into uni

i have applied for the creative music technology course at bath spa university and now they want a cd of 4 of my recent tracks and an explaination of what i was trying to achieve. can you please take a look at the tunes on my myspace and tell me which ones you think i should send them. i have got a couple of weeks to do it so i can go back and change anything so please tell me what you think needs changing on them aswell. any advice would really help. cheers

no offence mate, but shouldn't you do this yourself. i mean you wrote them and should have some attachment to them or even an opinion on them.
surely, you are proud enough of your own work to pick the tracks you like and be able to talk about them.

yes i know what you mean and ultimately i will decide my self but a bit of advice from those with more technical knowledge than me cant hurt can it.
particularly about what needs changing to finish them up.

bath spa uni is sick mate.
after my college course, may well end up seein you there!

but yeah, i would choose the songs that you're most proud of
and that you can write about easiest as well

The uni may be good.... Shame about the rest of Bath lol...

Easily in my top 5 shittest places in the UK list lol......

(Port Talbot, Portsmouth, Oxford & Yate being the others...) (No personal offense meant to residents of aformentioned hellholes)

bath isnt that shit
there are places that dont even have a record shop- drop records is so good
also renegatus on here runs a dubstep night once a month in Moles, the January one had Luke Envoy.
Think of all the places that would love luke envoy
also there is so much talent in bath on the grime and dub scenes

Horses for courses.... Each to there own etc etc.

Of course, that top 5 list is completely 'in my opinion' hehe.

My mate lives in Bath. I just don't like the buildings, the shape of the town, the tall dismal hills, the rain, the price of everything, the lack of anything etc etc. You're probably one of Baths greatest features!

Yeah man, when i lived in Bath last year the dubstep scene was huge! Big up drop records as well. Adam, the shop keep knows his stuff man. fucking beats the shit outta blackmarket records and others man.

As far as tune selection, i know that from doing the college diploma there, the same tutors at bath spa uni, are really into their melodic and moody shit. so maybe try writing some tunes that arent so blatantly dubstep man. because you will have to record all sorts of music. Im a dnb/Dubstep head and recorded a metal band and got a distinction!

PM me if you want to know about the best spots in the city etc... Ez

thanks mate this is the best advice so far. i will have to get busy. havent really got much melodic stuff so i will try to bust out a new tune in the next couple of weeks

mate i listen to so much different music you have no idea XD
i'm at the college myself, i'm a born and bred metalhead on the side
i'm recording an indie-funk band in the next few weeks

also Gatekeeper is one of my lecturers

dubstep is just one of my favourites.
I've lived in bath for 17 years, i know some sick spots

sorry to the OP for thread-jacking so horribly!
i reckon it's good that he's technical, i'm suited to it, he lets you get quite hands on with DJ Skills as well which is obviously good
