DJs Playing Leaks

Correct me if Im wrong but surely producers need to be the performers of there own material? obviously if it's released it's different, but bands don't record a new album and then pass their tracks on to others to perform them so why should producers? if you look at dnb or dubstep most of the producers are also djs so they have more control and always bring their own fresh tracks to play and people pay to see them play it cause its unique and the only time you can hear it...
Im a producer and a dj and I think both go hand in hand so this obviously makes sense to me (it's always good to see a producer who can actually mix and perform their tracks well and there is nothing worse then seeing a good producer train wreck every mix)...I have never downloaded music illegally and am dead against it... i like buying a piece of vinyl cause it supports the artist and the record store i buy it from, but when it comes to my own material i save it to play myself...serato makes this dead easy and i don't have to pay for dubplates...there is always room for a more pure dj like andy c / hatcha /n-type / marcus nasty etc. cause they are good at what they do, but if im gonna pay to go to a club/event I want to see the producer perform there own stuff to it's full potential...
I guess all new scenes go through a period where until the producers are established the djs have more power, but obviously at some point the creator of the music needs to take some of the power back and surely the best way to do it is to play it out yourself and get rewarded for your efforts...

because there's a good chance if someone stole from a shop they would get caught, its more risky. Whereas there's little chance of someone gettin caught downloading. Its that simple.Neville Bartos wrote:people shouldn't down load music illegally.
you don't go to a shop and help yourslef to products off the shelves so why should music be any different?
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

I said "why should music be any different?" not "why do people do it". The torrent sites should all be shut down. Why they are allowed to operate is beyond me.Capo Ultra wrote:because there's a good chance if someone stole from a shop they would get caught, its more risky. The whole reason why the internet exists is the reason why this will never be possible. The best thing to do is to embrace the good parts and put up with the bad parts. They said tape trading would kill music but it actually invented new scenes and genres like death metalNeville Bartos wrote:I said "why should music be any different?" not "why do people do it". while I agree with you generally, the industry was its own worst enemy - high prices and then sleeping on legal downloads. even now itunes still offers best quality 256 files. I mean WTF.Neville Bartos wrote:people shouldn't down load music illegally.

watch ''Steal This Film'' - its about bit torrent and filesharing. basically mini**** and all can get away with it because the copyright laws in their countries are different to ours.Neville Bartos wrote:I said "why should music be any different?" not "why do people do it".
