Headhunters wicked Techno Basslines !!!

Anyone or even better the man himself

got an idea how he does this brilliant Techno Basslines, is it synth, resampling, which vst ?????
Really love his style, just heard that he uses Logic and a little rEASON:

give me a song example and I might be able to help you.

It doesn't really matter what synths he uses, you can get good results from a lot of different synths.

Things like Prototypes, Grounded, Baseflow, in Motion and the great Descent.
I know basic bassline Techniques but I always feel his are sounding this little bit different and special. Thanks for your help

its because its his style, you shouldnt worry about it, just worry about making yours sounding different and special from everybody elses, thats what dubstep is all about

On the contrary copying people when you're just starting out is actually quite helpful in most cases. You will find your sound when you find your sound imo.

Let me look up some of those tracks.

Btw, what the fuck is a 'techno bassline' ? I have been playing Techno for a long time and I have no idea what your on about

I think Headhunter was a House/min Techno producer so a lot of his stuff is 4/4.

Give audio samples of the sound your on about.

The bassline in Descent seems pretty simple. It's made up of 2 layers, one is a low pitched saw with the bottom rolled off, (try 100 hz) and a sub layer.

the saw layer seems to be lightly distorted with a little bit of modulation on the cutoff. If you need a little bit more movement you can layer another saw at the same octave that's slightly detuned at a much lower volume.

EQing is the most important part of getting this to sit right imo. Here's my 5 minute attempt:

Be warned, I didn't get the tops/mids correct, I'm thinking I should have whipped out guitar rig and raised the cutoff more.

I would not say my basslines are techno, they seem to only fit in dubstep actually. maybe dNb too. Techno basses are usually a lot lower in frequency and shorter (in most cases).
I do use logic, the ES2 is on of my fav synths ever. And the logic eq and compressor is actually better sounding than a lot of expensive vst/au's out there. I think its just designed for the 'dance' producer in mind.

Like someone mentioned in this post, copying a producers production is a good idea, i used to do it a lot mainly with psytrance and dNb. Thats how i guess i found my sound. Nowadays i tend to have too many of my own ideas to need to go copying.

As a producer you just need to find your own way of learning stuff. Above is some of the ways i found mine.

Thankyou mr Headhunter !!! I didnt mean Techno basslines in a sense of Moog Basslines, i just meant that lets call it Technofeel...Like Technical Itch, Optical, Matrix and Teebee in D and B. Deep and Dirty dive into business..
