Oh and I will also say, and I'm sure that I am the minority, but damn rewinds get on my nerves. I have never liked them, and never will. Jungle, DnB, Breaks, Dub whatever - I just don't like it for some reason.

Fucking seconded. I don't care how sick that last drop was, don't stop the fucking record. I get that rewinds are part of the culture but fuck all they do is a) destroy any flow the dancefloor had and when they're used too often b) serve as a crutch for the DJ so they don't have to do proper mixes.

The idea of doing a rewind makes sense to me but I have yet to hear a DJ use them responsibly; responsibly meaning _maybe_ once a set. Rewinding every 2nd or 3rd record renders the whole idea pointless.

If Jesus spun dnb/jungle/dubstep I could guarantee that he wouldn't have enough bangers in his crate to rewind every few tracks and if he doesn't that means you don't either.

last night is a prefect example of why even for local nights quality control is key spent fucking hours - 10-1am building up a dancefloor - was fucking painful by the time i jumped off for a cig there was a good 50 ppl on the dancefloor ( Last Tune Foriegn beggars with Vex'd On production - Bollocks)

next DJ comes on - i go outside for a cig as i'm sitting there a good 60 ppl fucking stream out of the club and off into the night

Fair enough. I probably lumped one to many things that bug me about DJs into one post. There are plenty of times where I've heard a DJ play through a drop, go "oh shi, time to rewind that", play it again then shortly thereafter either slow down the track playing by killing power to the deck or with their hand and then launch into what would be the next tune.

So yeah rewinds as they're normally done aren't crutches. In the instance I explained above they are. My bad for not being more specific before.

rewinds are only good when they happen naturally and everyone is begging for it. also i like them with brand new tunes where the drop is absolutley absurd and then the dj is like BAM bitch, heres your intro.

and when a rewind is done correctly, it actually hypes the dance floor ten times more.

you aint a dj unless u can do it with only the use of one eye and occasional sick breaks. its part of our art dahlings! thing is tho, most of the time when u in the booth you cant hear whats comin out the main speakers cos u got monitors right next to you, and what sounds fine to u may sound gash on the dancefloor. when i play out i always put both sides of the headphones on my ears and keep both channels on cue before i bring anything in just to make sure. its just common courtesy

It emptied the floor abit but that just gave the rest of us more room to skank out to the disco vibes. Disco sounds heavy on a system

a friend of mine was booked to play on New Years eve and was asked to BRING HIS OWN NEEDLES for his set.

Any dj worth their salt should always bring their own needles. I never trust cub needles with my precious vinyls

You have to bring your own if you want to have control.
Lots of experience will make it easy to use anything, but why?!!
Its all about the sound isn't it ?!!
Always bring my concords and REMEMBER TO REPLACE THE STYLUS!!!
In oslo I have to bring my own mixer too . . .
Its so much more fun to work with good equipment!
