Edirol Orchestral
anyone use this? it sounds beautiful, but there's a couple of things driving me mad about it..
I'm using it with fruity, which may be the reason for these problems.
first of all I have to open an instance of it for each instrument I want to use; there's like 20 channels in the vsti but i can only use one of them per instance, which sends my computer into a bit of a fit if I try to use too many. anyone know how I can just open one instance of it and use all the instruments?
secondly, it won't save any changes I make in it when I save my project, so every time i open it I have to redo them. any ideas?
cheers in advance

what you can do about the outputs is (at least in cubase or logic) changing the midi channel, so when you have one instance of the plugin running and you open the gui you see 16 available instruments, and automatically each one is being send to it's own midichannel.
so when you have a miditrack and the output for the miditrack is the edirol orchestral, make sure you use the right midichannel. channel 1 is for the first instrument, 2 for the second etc.
about the saving, i don't know, i've ran into the same problem but i was too lazy to figure it out and instead i just remembered which instrument i used by giving the miditrack the samen name
i don't use this plugin very often because the sound sucks imo, i'd rather use some good samples but i use it a lot for trying things out.

Yeah did try this out, not too bad if it's well background and effected, but still a tad bollox if too loud. I'm going the multisamples and programming sample patches route. Now actually have a usable sax patch which is quite nice.
Try that MIS place - loads of multisamples of classical music if you're after it

Hmm....

In the orchestral interface when you've made the sound you want, click system which is on the right hand side. A dialog box comes up... then look for performance and click SAVE. type in something that will make you remeber it e.g song name orchestral settings 1 etc.
Everytime you load up orchestral and you want that sound you saved you will need to click system again, performance then load.
Hope that helped...

no need to save anything... you can make all the settings via program changes (to select instrument patch for a given midi channel) and control changes (to modify both global and patch parameters), so all the settings will be stored and loaded along with your sequencer's song file. Pretty easy once you know how it's done, and fun to play with. Lemme know if you need more info on this...
