looking for a certain kick drum....

Post by dank » Tue Jan 27, 2009 4:08 am

so i'm gonna sound like an idiot trying to describe it in words, but anyway, basically it's a kick that tails off with a slow downward pitchbend, like a normal kick with a tailing sine wav so it goes boom->->->-> bending down over time....hahaha, if you have any about what i'm trying to say help would be much appreciated, cheers

From your description perhaps it's a 808 bd (kick drum).

Otherwise, large floor toms or other bassy percussion may have the sound your after.

nm i got it, sorry about that....the 808 is not what i was looking for. the sound i was searching for is a manually applied sine wav and it gives the kick a stupid amount of bass, try it out!

i have samples of kicks that sound like that, doesn't need a manually applied sine wave.

Mmmmmh... maybe you could manually apply a sine wave ?

Seriously, already done that for a track : get a 808 kick (make it on Nepheton's D16 if needed) then open Massive or Subtractor or anything like going "boom", take a sine wave, draw a pitch enveloppe to match the 808 kick... If needed, get attack amount on your synth so that the attack of the sound will be only the 808's one, not to burn your master.

Sample it, put it in your favorite drum machine / sampler, here you go.
My Sound [-o-] Yes, it's THAT good. So click, b-tard.

Now that's unreasonable cpu wasting, using massive for a sine wave.

Unfortunately I can neither remember where I got it from (although I assume here?) or upload it myself as my comp with it on is...very much with the repair man, but Untold gave out a little sample pack a while ago, and he had a homemade kick drum thing that I reckon is exactly what you want!!

It sounds SO good :D

Yeah, I agree with that but : Massive's enveloppe are so flexible that you can very easily match a 808 kick... Then you bounce your sample to make one single kick anyways.

I think i know what your on about. Its a Psytrance kick right? Google Bassizm. Its a vsti that creates these pitch modulated kicks. Tried to search all over for a video tutorial i once had, but seems like it has been removed...

Just make it man.

Open soundforge -> create a sine wave -> apply pitch bend envelope how you want.

Easy.
