(sorry to answer a question aimed at someone else ) but yeah, I dont think they can.

However, I also dont think these formations are the product of any extra terrestrial intelligence. It seems a bit of a "god of the gaps" explanation with no real evidence from what ive seen.
For example, id put crazy unexplained natural phenomena (ball lightning?) or humans with clever technology/mad skills/autism way higher up on the list of likeliness than aliens making some bizarre, sporadic attempt at communicating with us.

Oh...and I know that you werent one claiming that aliens made em all hackman. Your post was just a good jumping off point for me to make mine

I don't know... but I don't think humans with planks of wood is the only option. I've done that myself and it was remarkably easy, but for the bigger ones I'm not sure why it's unbelievable that humans could be using a different technique? I've also made art from above (simple... numbers and shapes) for protests (most recent one was for 350.org in London) and those have always been quite easy to get right even without the help of a bloke in a chopper/cherry picker.

There are plenty of manmade things in the world that are impossible to create with our fat fingers and average coordination, but we're pretty good at designing tools to make up for that... it strikes me that, since these designs have been getting more complex as time has gone on - somebody's getting better at it, which seems a fairly human trait? Would aliens not get their technique down before they started graffing other species' planets?

Either way, there's an awful lot unknown stuff happening. I watched the vid and it is indeed very interesting. I'm not dismissing your explanation at all, just saying that I don't have as much faith in it as you... I'd like to witness the technique myself, it's the only real evidence that matters isn't it?

maybe, i'm basing my opinion on all the accounts i've read or heard about people seeing ufos in the sky over fields then crop circles appearing
and of animals like dogs barking at something, then there being a circle

basically i don't believe it's a natural phenomena, particularly when some have clear messages in them, and i don't believe in the plankers either

for me it's either aliens or some hi tech operation the government is doing from satellites or something lol

can you give examples of this? i haven't seen that pattern anywhere, there have always been amazing ones and there have always been questionable ones

Do you not believe plankers do any of them? I definitely disagree with that because I made one as a teenager with planks... growing up in the country was fun! We only did a circle for a laugh and I can't really relate to the planning that goes into the complex ones,

For some reason I find aliens more plausible than government... I can't see what a government would have to gain by spending all that money on making shapes in fields...?

At least we're politely agreeing to disagree this time.



Edit: I'm not sure I can expand on the "getting more complex" thing... I've read in a few places that it's considered to be true, but I haven't got anything to flesh it out. I'll take it back rather than flog a dead horse!
