Either way

Some thoughts on this would be nice.

Don't worry, I give feedback to anyone who gives me any - so don't hesitate to tell me any loves or especially hates of the track!

I really love this. This is really the dubstep that I've always been fond of. It's what drew me into the genre to begin with. What do you use for your sub basses? I've been trying out different VSTs for my sub bass and I've come to realize that not every VST produces the same sounding sub bass even if you use the same methods which is a bit strange to me. Lately I've just been using a basic 3xOSC cause it seems to give me a much more controlled sound.

Yeah I am using the 3xOSC - playing in E (think I am playing E4) using the fruity free filter low passed to around 60hz and slightly compressed to keep the it around the same volume (though, have turned velocity down in places to give bigger hits when there is more space) this tunes nearly done now - i'll sort you out a copy :)

Cheers
Some nice sounds in this, especially at the start and those at the 4 min mark, but sounds like the two melodies are kind of conflicting with each other when played at the same time.

heres my track:some nice synth melodies in this one, my main issue is with the bass, think i need to fatten it up somehow but would just putting a sub under the other bass sort it out? maybe stupid question but does every track need some kind of sub to be bass heavy or as long as the bass fills out the low end then thats all good?

feedback appreciated! cheers

@ Legendary: Dude fuck yea this song is chilled out as fuck, I personally think that some would find it repetitive but I don't know if there is anything you can do about that because of the style of the song. I really like it! Its super chill and kind of trancy which I really enjoy. Also the mixing sounds really good and so do the female vocals.

@ ENZA: ill be honest, I find the midrange to your song quite obnoxious, I think it may be too loud. Also with the continuing piano sample playing I think that it and the bass conflict stylistically. thats just my two cents think about it I guess.

@JasperVC: Your songs are sounding pretty slick man. The dubstep one has a moment after the first bass that sounds a little too muddy for my taste, otherwise the vocal bass and shit all sounds quite interesting. The drumstep tune is wicked cool on the other hand, Ive been experimenting with this a little myself and it is growing on me.

Anyway here are 2 tracks that I have been working on lately. The drum and bass Tune is a collab between me and my roommate, this soundcloud version is just the first part of the tune but it is pretty much complete and just needs to be rendered out. The second is something I jsut pooped out yesterday and I think its sounding ok but tell me what you think. Personally I think the bassline is too random and sounds a little shoddy.

Just started working on this yesterday. Don't know how I'm feeling about it as it's kinda moved a bit quicker than what I'm used to. Trying to keep it feeling a bit deep and dark. I want to add some samples and stuff to it but I'm not at that stage yet. No name for it yet either and I've pretty much done 0 mastering of any kind. Also not sure if I'm entirely loving the breakdown in the middle, that will probably get changed at some point, I just wanted something there as sort of a place holder I guess.

@ JBE dude what a cool song, I dont quite think those vocal blips are just right yet, they seem to be a little overpowering maybe or maybe the filter or whatever is opening a hair too much, I dunno just sounds a little gnarly. The atmosphere on the other hand is A+!

@ Jdot omg lol!!!! It felt like my bones were being gnawed on by a plastic chainsaw! I would say I think your hats sound kinda loud. and the bass overall is kind of muddied up from all the distortion and whatnot.

here is a track I just mixed down this morning after posting my other 2, I think its sounding pretty good. just did some quick gain related mastering but haven't really completely mixed everything yet. I feel like my songwriting is getting a lot better so Im just gonna keep mixing down whole tracks like this even if I don't particularly like the end result. Please give me feedback!

Yeah some more EQing needed on the bass.

I forgot to turn the hats down before I saved the track too.

As for your latest track, nice hat pattern, keeps it flowing along, nice sub tones on the intro, overall a good track, slightly repetitive I was thinking but then nice progression.

@JBE: Strange, not sure I'm a fan of that ghostly synth....or the clicking noises.... nice vibes on on it still and it does what it sets out to do, achieves the dark atmosphere. etc

Need to add sub bass, but this is one of my better engineered songs, in terms of levels and what not. It's nothing too serious, but you might like the melody...

Curious how you guys think I fared. Usually my shit is clipping out the ass. I kept everything tight this time.

Updated my previous tune. It's in my sig now. Made a few changes. Removed some stuff that I later wasn't liking. Guess others didn't like it as well.

Anyone else having troubles getting soundcloud to play anything? For some reason I can't get it to play any songs at all, even my own. The site seems to be fine though.
