Imo, Reason 5 looks fucking cool.
Still can't touch the big boys, but looks like it resolves most of the show stoppers for me.
I think I may buy this when I have the wonga.
Can't wait to try the new combi.

Re: Propellerhead Announcement...
I'm changing my mind, specifically because many of the features I wanted to see in Reason are now present.
In Reason 6, even more will be there.
Re: Propellerhead Announcement...
I have still not got my hands onto record, mainly because i dont record much stuff. However, i would like to use it for mixing reasons...Project EX wrote:judging by the size of the rack window, i'd say reason.nitz wrote:Were these "reason" or "record" images haha. nothing new for me tho haha, been rolling with record for a while nownitz wrote:We got metering baby! rolling! haha. Its the same big meter as in record tho
Now vocals in reason will not be a pain in the ass, with in in build editor i seen in that picture.
I want more....

Re: Propellerhead Announcement...
So I'm guessing you still can't bring audio into Reason unless you're using Record though, yeah? As in, the new sampling stuff is for recording audio internally or externally, but you still have to put it into a sampler yea? Either way, more audio editing is nothing but a good thing...interested in seeing what this NN Nano is all about, and Kong looks pretty damn fun. Definitely something I would need to demo to see if it's worth upgrading or if I should just stick to a VST-based host.

Yeah man, demoing is essential.
Even if I purchased R5, I'd still use Reaper/VSTs as my main setup.
I'm eager to get my mits on the final release now to test it

I can't imagine you'd be able to leave the freedom and power of a daw + vst's and go back into that little box. If you can, my hat is off 2 u.cloak and dagger wrote:see if it's worth upgrading or if I should just stick to a VST-based host.

Well I certainly wouldn't be abandoning that setup...but wondering more if Reason 5 would be worth the money compared to the improvements I would see in workflow. Considering nearly all of the tunes I've had signed were made completely in Reason and I've still made fairly decent ones entirely in Reason after switching to VSTs (while on airplanes and in hotel rooms), I still feel like it's not worth giving up on. Although ironically I made the switch to Cubase BECAUSE I thought Record was so weak and that I needed to expand my tools a bit.

Nah in Reason 6 they'll have a minimalist renaissance and only give you a Casio keyboard and a distortion pedal.futures_untold wrote:In Reason 6, even more will be there.

I cannot imagine going back to Reason under any circumstance other than my wife kicking me out and I only have the lappy to my name haha. I absolutely cannot stand the workflow of Reason now that I am accustomed to Live. I tried to go back a couple times and just cursed the whole time. Slows me down big time.

Re: Propellerhead Announcement...
The new layout seems nice, the kong seems awesome, couldn't care less about the Octorex...I was a logic user, but my logic crashed and I don't have the money to buy a legit version just yet,so I've been using Reason lately and I must say that I've started really liking it,so I may upgrade to the 5,I just hope they bust out a Synth..
