For me, I just listened to some tracks that I liked on YouTube and stumbled across the word 'dubstep'. I didn't know what it was so I watched some videos that came up as search results for 'dubstep', and I've loved the genre ever since.

I don't think it was any one instance in particular. I heard said the spider VIP and was thoroughly impressed. With alot of of different kinds of electronic dance music seemingly trying to "raise the bar" by putting forth soulless floor smashing tunes, it was exactly what I was looking for. Ultimately it's the tracks that don't sit comfortable within the genre, but give it a proper nod that appeal to me the most.

Grime got me into Dubstep

couldn't find a UK mc for my beats so I started flipping "beats" into "tunes"

Midnight Request line by Scream got me into Dubstep. Also that I found it way easier to write Dubstep than Drum n Bass.

My dad got me into burial and rusko when i was about 14, and i started looking for more.

got into DNB in '98, nicky blackmarket, stevie hyper d set was my introduction. I become obsessed with DNB and started rocking mics from the US to Canada.

2007, I heard dubstep for the first time. I heard other dnb heads convert to dubstep and I initially felt threatened by dubstep. I didn't understand the migration from dnb to dubstep. I listened to a couple of sets, went to a few parties and I was still not impressed. I decided to keep my mind open, I downloaded Skream's essential mix and listened to that like 20 times. Dubstep became my new religion...

transmission at leeds west indian centre in about 2006-2007. not sure who played (though something tells me it was DMZ) but it was big bad an heavy. loved it. goldie was the headliner that night, if anyone can fill me!

yeah, it was about the sub bass for me. when i first heard colourful by skream, that was what got me into it. i loved that sub

yeah man, one of the first vinyl i bought! such a big tune!

Modeselektor Body Language Volume 8 and Moderat got me into the sound. After that was Scuba. Scuba blew me away.

Dunno I was into some of the early Grime beats 'cause they had a different flavour too them. What caught my interest initially was the Grime release on Rephlex. I recall hear a few Loafeh beats on some site maybe a few years later too but what really grabbed me was hearing Distance's 'Traffic' off the Planet Mu site ... that's when I really became aware of this sound proper if you like.
