why shouldn't it be? granted the heath care bill like i previously said suffers from a bunch of provisions tacked onto it, but has the private health care industry done such a great job?

also does no one fear big government?
Government has no place moving into the private sector,
how can you not see that?

why should the government sits idly by when it's own citizens are dying because the private sector cares more about the value of a dollar than a human life? health insurance is one of the biggest scams around with all the fine print and they work hand in hand with the medical field.

Anyone here who hasn't been part of a project to better there own community and is talking about politics on either side is a parrot, spouting off some one else's opinion. Go be part of your community and make it better. And end his lame post

hmm looks like you're the idiot here.manillathrilla wrote: in this country its not governments job, and never should be. end of story.
fucking idiot
the government is the perfect entity to manage healthcare rather than private sector insurance people who are more likely to make deals that make them money. a healthcare system run in the private sector HAS to make money, a government-run system doesn't.
can you not see the massive advantage?
i can't see how you have more confidence in insurance companies you know are trying to make a buck off you and will use any loophole possible to deny you the care you've already paid over the odds for.

not as much as i fear unchecked capitalism...manillathrilla wrote:does no one fear big government?
oh, also, good to see that you, in fact, have no idea what you dislike about the health care bill. perfect. just abjectly hate things you don't understand... its very patriotic.
Re: America can be so embarrassing. :|
It seems that there will always be Americans
who prefer the exploitation of "free enterprise"
to "big government" and socialism...
it's part of the culture and not necessarily wrong.
But unfortunately some of the stupider ones are on this clip:
"Freedumb!"
"Czars came from Roman times."
"Obama is the antichrist...it says it, the letters are spaced out...in the bible"
"He's creating an armed militia of 2 million."
But everyone is stupid about something
& at least these people are out there protesting.
So why should I care, a foreigner?
Well I do less & less
because the USA is losing it's authority,
the power & influence it had over other nations.
Not to the extent that it can be ignored yet
but without the sort of realpolitik Obama espoused in his election campaign,
without some unblinkered, progressive thinking being accepted by its populace,
without the hard-nosed fiscal decisions the poms are taking,
the US is going down the gurgler bigtime,
Tea Party and all.
You might presume I'm saying that with bile.
Yet I'm an ally...love the country...generally, like the people
(whatever problems I have with blindfolding parochialism).
But there are a lot of agrieved humans out there,
nations filled with hatred and the desire for vengeance,
resentful of American arrogance and hegemony,
brooking no excuses for the stupid or ignorant.
Those throats will be cut as readily as the profiteers'.
I suspect that this may, in part,
cause Witchchild's frustration with his countrymen.

Re: America can be so embarrassing. :|
when profit is introduced, so is compromise. It's a terrible way for a nation to treat it's people.
why would anyone want a private, run-for-profit company to be in charge of healthcare? They LITERALLY have an alterior motive, making huge profits.

I love this 'big government' argument. The proportion of the economy which the American government runs is and always has been the same amount as any other developed country, it's just a different section of the economy, in Europe governments run healthcare, communications infrastructure and public transport and in America the government spends the same amount as other countries do on making countries nice to live in as America does on its defense budget, if not more. The way America spends its budget and always has been pure Keynesianism, which is a socialist economic model, just instead of roads and schools, the government spends money on tanks and guns to keep the economy going.manillathrilla wrote: also does no one fear big government?
The American government already runs a very good and efficient healthcare plan for Vets, which proves the government can run a healthcare system, would like to replace that with the shitty private system too?
Why is it that the American government, per person, spends 2-4 times more than other developed countries on healthcare, yet you still have to pay thousands of dollars a year for basic coverage?
Also, why is it that this new breed of American right-wingers can't spell, punctuate or put a sentence together without name calling? That kind of stuff gives a bad name to real right-wingers.

Re: America can be so embarrassing. :|
surely it'd be more beneficial for the people to have an increase in taxation which would cover some sort of national health service instead of the inflated insurance premiums everyone has been complaining about??
is it more complex than that??
also i dont see how a government run health care system is a threat to capitalism and free enterprise...? the pharmaceutical companies, the contractors who build hospitals, the entire infrastructure surrounding the 'nhs' is all private- enabling governments to actively sponsor private sector businesses.
or am i way off the mark?
