Am I expected to be friendly and sociable and yell over the loud speaker while wearing ear plugs to make casual conversations with people? I don't fit in that box above, but I'm not very friendly and sociable either because I don't like sweaty guys grinding on me. I just prefer to dance by myself and if I do [ever] get freaky on dubstep it has to be in the house/bedroom/shower/car/whatevs. I do hate people taking up space, but what I see in a lot of parties here in San Diego, there's more grinding going on (especially on banger or brostep tunes). I'm just a bit confused on how friendly do I exactly get. I very much support my local DJs, I'm there whether they open or close for a headliner, I know very few people who have been around since I started, and I don't make any effort into meeting new people cos I don't give a shat. I'm there mostly for the music.

i mean where im at, dub is still growing. it hasnt hit main stream or "trendy" *YET*, and we have a pretty cool scene with a lot of local DJ talent that are doing the local shows, but also bringing in the bigger names which they open for, generating interest and promoting themselves.

just in the past couple of months we have had some pretty big names roll thru including EOTO, Zeds Dead, Reso, Siren, Broken Note, Smilodon and Toffler, HD4000, Two Fresh, Vibe Squad, Caspa, and a few others. and coming up we have some good shows including 12th Planet, Nero, and talk of Rusko, so i mean we have a decent little scene going, but the cool thing is that even with names like these, we arent drawing MASSIVE crowds. probably somewhere between 300-500 people for the bigger names and it usually the same cool people who are not fanboys or nutsingers (but of course those type of people will be there)

so luckily dubstep has not been ruined here yet, but honestly whats made it shittier around here is main stream rap (or "radio rap") remixes. I say this because people who have never heard the genre before youtube their rap-pop and then they will see a dubstep remix and so they click it, like it, and start following related links until they think they are THE dubsteppaahh.

Example- this guy recently denounced dubstep to me, saying it was retarded and "just a bunch of noise." Then he caught a hold of a rap remix he like and a week later is saying that tracks are "filthy" and that he "only listens to grime." and comes up to me and asks me if ive ever heard of Caspa. lol. so thats whats going to be the downfall i think. nut swinging fanboy homophobe.. but hopefully not here in St. Louis for a long time.
