Really?
I'd rather have the additional Radiohead tracks than the Fly Lo remix. Fly Lo went off the boil a while back.

fly lo only peaked on cosmogramma, that lastest lp didnt resonate with me tho.

I much prefer LA to Cosmogramma. Cosmogramma felt soulless. I feel that he reached the peak of that sound on LA and he's been floundering ever since.
Piling jazz into the equation didn't really work. Cosmogramma just ended up being technically impressive but forgettable. On my first few listens, I thought it was great and was really impressed, but the novelty of having all that stuff going on at once soon wore off and there wasn't much else to it.

fair one, these are only opinions, but i think technicality hasnt got a thing to do with cosmogramma, it is srsly cosmic.
i dont know how to explain the way i feel about that album, but foreget about 'music' and just listen to it.
drugs help too
LA is awesome too tho, they just attempt different things.

The whole "cosmic" thing, I'm all for it, but it's so overt in the Brainfeeder stuff. Feels like he flaunts it like some sort of fashion accessory. They seem to be living in Sun Ra's shadow voluntarily.
I think there's something up if you have to take drugs to enjoy music. The best music I can get things out of sober or intoxicated and I love both.

i dont have to take drugs to enjoy it, but when i do, it becomes more than music and a total sensory experience, could be a personal thing tho.
i know what your saying about 'cosmic' being overt in brainfeeder stuff, but i feel like LA was just a J Dilla contuation wheras cosmogramma was flylos true vision. i dunno for real tho, that just what it sounds like to me.

I get that anyway. Drugs definitely open you up in that way though and definitely opened me up in that way.
I wasn't saying you personally had to take drugs to enjoy it, I was more aiming it at Fly Lo. If his listeners feel they have to take drugs when they listen to his music he's narrowing their perceptions a fair bit. He's in danger of the stoner curse at times. People who play Bob Marley or Cypress Hill whenever they get stoned etc.

yeah i definitely see what youre saying, and its a shame when people use drugs as a crutch rather than listening for themsleves and hearing the music for what it is. i feel its more a fan thing than a flylo thing, just from interviews and bbc essential mixes hes done.
its like people interpret his music as something diffrent to what it is.
im pretty bad at explaining myself with words so excuse me xD

I listen to Bong Ra whilst I meditate after a hectic day at the office.

basically its what this song was about,
the artist wanting to know that there are fans who understand ther music rather than taking it at surface value as a social/identity thing.

The album only really starts to come together towards the middle. The last half of the album has all the strongest songs on it. I can't get enough of Codex.
It sounds like I expected it to though. Half the reason I like Kid A so much was it came out not long after the death of britpop, all the clangy guitars, NME's favourites, - it was all quite good but it was all the same thing; then Kid A was leaked on the internet Heralding a change in their sound that has remained for five albums now. Kid A was new and not what you were expecting, no band has had the balls to do what they've done with albums. Change their sound completely from the stadium rock big guitar sounds of The Bends, concept album of OKC and then do a U turn half way through their career. Then release an album for free (which is why I figure I owe them one!).

hmm smashing pumpkins did it? big rock then concept album then electro/experimental. didn't work out quite as well though
i don't know how this album will fare, i thought the same when in rainbows came out too. maybe it's all about time, i'd consider most of in rainbows classic now. the king of limbs album seems so loose and free flowing to me, it's obviously amazing listening but for how long? i could dive right into 'all i need' or 'you and who's army' but this one? maybe codex i guess. give it a year then i might understand it

I have to say after listening to it for two days it is actually probably my favourite Radiohead album. I love all the others but this and In Rainbows just seems to strike a chord with me more than any of the others. I love it

Great start to the year: Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, PJ Harvey - Let England Shake, Radiohead - The King of Limbs and Earth's latest
