I wish people would pay attention when I post Harvey Milk. Probably one of the most varied bands about and one of my favourites.
I mean you got standard Sludge,
to shit like this
to like
Or
In one band

Seriously like every album they have done is amazing. Even within the album there's a lot of variation too. Courtesy... has an acoustic Leonard Cohen cover on it plus shit that just almost descends into noise. Special Wishes stops being so sludgy at all really by the end. Get them all. If the Pleaser seems a little too straightforward get drunk to it. It's like a party rock album
Also they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen without a doubt.

Don't think she was mentioned in this thread yet, but does anyone like Grouper?
I'm big on female vocals, so combining guitar drone music with dreamy female vox pretty much sealed it for me.
Not nearly as intense or heavy as Sunn or Earth, and a lot of it is more ambient/electronic inspired, but there's a lot of guitar drones especially live

Don't worry, we can all take turns on YouTube showing off our most obscure Doom bands!

Yeah, bought the Alien Observer EP not that long ago. Good stuff.

On a different tip, but the BM heads know I'm a sucker for Velvet Cacoon cuz I ripped my screenname from one of their albums, but their member(s?) started a new band called Clair Cassis after VC. It's in a very similar style, but moore catchy and 'poppy' and hook driven than VC, with shorter songs. I fucking love it. Rinsing that shit hard since I got into them and it has that same.. slow, muddy and atmospheric vibe as a lot of shit here. I think I may actually like them better than VC.
That acoustic outro <3

besides sustained, bowed sections and walls of echoed distortion, they achieve "drones" through repetition. hence why i call people like isis, swedish acid rockers trad gras och stenar, tons of krautrock bands, and terry riley "droney".
still waiting on my dopesmoker vinyl. southern lord is fuckin up with this one.

Implying rebecca black has any sort of talent
Anyway I just noticed Scion stopped dubstep events, but are now putting on events with Southern Lord. Pretty good tradeoff. http://www.scionav.com/event/276
Also, don't bother clicking the 'Garage' events. They're a bunch of fucking liars.

Saw Sunn O))) last night - pal had an extra ticket and called me last minute -
Actually, not sure if "saw" is the right word: a better word might be "undergo" or something. I think they literally hit the brown note at one point towards the end. It was totally sonically immersive, like a massive aural massage. Put me into a trance state. Closest thing to pagan mystery rites I think I've ever witnessed.
