it's not dead, i just didn't know what i was getting myself into... talking to corporate copyright lawyers was a good idea, there is a whole lot that needs to go into this.

i'm busy hashing out the general contract / disclaimer with their supervision.

Idmforums does it
they are much smaller than us, with less traffic and less to risk. understand that when an intellectual property suit hits a global website, to calculate the damages the first thing they do is audit the sites traffic, then they multiply the damages by every country. a lawsuit would wipe the forum out completely, and we'd lose our defense in court, as we knowingly hosted an album without samples cleared. i'm all for community efforts, but they have to be done right, done smartly, or not done at all.

people can bitch and moan all day about this, but the fact of the matter is, its not your legal neck on the line.

Should we have a vote on what tracks get included? Or is that too harsh for the people whose tunes dont get voted on...

how many tunes are gonna be on it?

like i and others said though the quality needs to be high throughout...no reason why there cant be multiple volumes though

yeah and voting will not only inspire people to try harder on their tunes, but also trim the fat a little bit. we can make the tunes blind as well, keep favoritism and friendship out of it.

what number should we shoot for in volume 1?

15? 13?

imo it shouldnt be too many otherwise people won't be bothered to listen to the whole thing

I would say 13 for the max.
..and I support the decision to throw up tracks for voting, if it turns into a "volume" thing than people can always keep trying.

13 is an unlucky number man, gotta be 12.

Valid point, but the luckiest number is 7 so it's gotta be that now.
