They have fucked up with Danielson something rotten. Making him win the championship the way he did was bad enough, but then to follow it up with a heel turn and getting himself disqualified all the time was just madness. He is a technical wrestler, one of the best they've had in fucking years, and they instead forget all about his actual ability and have him play a dirty tricks campaign. Madness.

I remember tuning into the Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1992 Olympics because something in the Hogan/Warrior Wrestlemania match got referred to as a Greco-Roman Wristlock... it wasn't quite what I'd been expecting.particle-jim wrote:So... anyone in this thread appreciate actual wrestling? you know, the sport?
Greco-roman and All-American/Freestyle are a bit gay admittedly but Catch Wrestling is legit
Fair play, I'm learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so chokes and submission holds are something i've become accustomed to, the only thing I cant deal with is when people don't tap and end up with a broken limb (first rule: tap if you know you're fucked otherwise its not your opponent who beat you, it's your ego), i brought up catch wrestling as it shares a lot of the same holds and techniques as jiu-jitsu, its just a bit more strength based whereas jiu-jitsu is about leverage and balance. But yeah, you get used to seeing choke holds and the like, I once choked my brother unconscious using just my legs... no homomagma wrote:but seeing people get choked out makes me properly uncomfortable

I think I'd be tapping on behalf of my opponent and taking the loss if I thought they were really going to let me break something... I'm just not built for this shit.particle-jim wrote:Fair play, I'm learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so chokes and submission holds are something i've become accustomed to, the only thing I cant deal with is when people don't tap and end up with a broken limb (first rule: tap if you know you're fucked otherwise its not your opponent who beat you, it's your ego), i brought up catch wrestling as it shares a lot of the same holds and techniques as jiu-jitsu, its just a bit more strength based whereas jiu-jitsu is about leverage and balance. Whilst it does sound (and admittedly kinda look) a bit gay, it is a legitmate technique Judokas and jiu-jitsu practitioners have been using for hundreds of yearswub wrote:particle-jim wrote:I once choked my brother unconscious using just my legs... no homo
This comment is reaaaaaaaaaaaaally stretching the concept of 'no homo'.
Mate I'm a massive pussy as well, that's why I'm learning Jiu-Jitsu, it's not known as "the gentle art" for nothingmagma wrote:I think I'd be tapping on behalf of my opponent and taking the loss if I thought they were really going to let me break something... Thing is, I've got huge respect for people that can master martial arts - learning to fight/defend is a really core part of being an adult male... I'm just terrified of the emotions involved in actually using them - probably why I like pro wrestling, it's got just the right level of controlled aggression for me.
(And please can you accompany me next time I go anywhere scary?)
Makes me feel even more of a pussy for quitting Jiu-Jitsu when I was younger that does. Wasn't Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu that I did, was just called Jiu-Jitsu and was taught dahn the local Working Mens. Got the the point where I was the highest in the grading system of the Juniors so they had me go to adult classes and get the fuck beaten out of me by 40 year old black belts. Got to do weapons training though which was sweeeeeet.particle-jim wrote:Mate I'm a massive pussy as well, that's why I'm learning Jiu-Jitsu, it's not known as "the gentle art" for nothingmagma wrote:I think I'd be tapping on behalf of my opponent and taking the loss if I thought they were really going to let me break something... Well traditional japanese Jiu-Jitsu is a lot rougher than BJJ, mainly because it has more stand up/striking techniques as well as weapons training whereas BJJ is pretty much just pure grappling/ground fightingBlenky119 wrote:Makes me feel even more of a pussy for quitting Jiu-Jitsu when I was younger that does. Always liked the grappling, might look into that. Yeah it was pretty much the not quite full force but definitely full contact nature of the strikes that made me get the fuck out of dodge. Watching wrestling again has made me want to try get fit/into shape to try it out, something about the planned nature with little to no real malice combined with the theatrics appeals to me more than the indie mma feds, they always strike me as dog fighting without the dogsparticle-jim wrote: Well traditional japanese Jiu-Jitsu is a lot rougher than BJJ, mainly because it has more stand up/striking techniques as well as weapons training whereas BJJ is pretty much just pure grappling/ground fighting

I'm all for Lesnar coming back, he's a good athlete, but guize.

TBF, Lesnar's return would've been nothing short of fantastic if they'd managed to keep a lid on it. But when Cena delivered his Rocky bait promo and the crowd were chanting WE WANT BROCK to the point where he was being drowned out, it killed the moment a bit.
