If only there were a stickied post that had some sort of knowledge base for folks who really want to obtain informative reading about exactly what they're working on, rather than simply participate in an ever-moving discussion forum with new and old active users
The Sound design thread and Mastering and Mixdown thread are great, and answered soooooooo many of my questions.... :4:

Its just some dont take the time too look, even after you point them too it.

I only read the first two pages of this thread so someone may have suggested this; how about we do a reading comprehension test? Upon registering, you get a short article from like sound on sound or something and you have to pass a short test on what you should've just read.
Or we could just spout bad advice on threads so the OP does like they're told and finds out firsthand why the advice was bad. If they get confused, they'll either be motivated to learn how things work or they'll be like "screw it, I'll just look up a youtube tutorials and use presets". lol

Yeah genius idea for the sake of the website. " just spout bad advice on threads" :dunce:

Well....I recently read some tips that seemed questionable and I was scratching my head at certain things (surely he meant high pass, not low pass?..,etc) and it made me think about why the advice didn't make sense. And then I scrolled down and saw some other people thought the same way and explained what they thought was wrong with the approach. Idk, it just sparked some constructive debate and got people to go more into detail. Whatever provokes people and makes things interesting

OP: you should have searched for this topic, as it has been covered in more detail, with more valid points on both sides, with more nuanced use of english, previously.

Just a side note, many of the anti-advanced forum people have disappeared entirely from the board, presumably because the more salient arguments for the pro advanced forum were, in fact, valid. :h:

So I suggest we create a sticky of the pro advanced forum v anti advanced forum argument so we don't have to see this thread continually cropping up. Jokes, sorry, it is not a cycle though, but a spiral, down which we're all sliiiiiiding.

To anyone that has been around for any length of time, you already know that this forum has pretty much already died. The boring unimaginative post(er)s were just a few, and were to be expected, and were largely ignored or mocked, then there were many, then they were the majority, and now they are most. Honestly, it is not about this thread or that thread individually, but about the culture, collectively. And no offense to the quality people who remain (and especially those who maintain), but the culture has really taken a hit. Even if you have a stupid, redundant question, I don't care so long as you are an interesting, inspired, maybe even mirthful person. But alas, those are not the people attracted to "dubstep" anymore :i:

Threads like this irritate the fuck out of me. The thread title is supposed to tell me what I'm going to be reading about when I click the link. 'Dear Wub' doesn't tell me shit so now I find myself reading the same 'how do we stop people asking dumbfuck questions' thread I've seen a million times already.

At least when some new kid on the block asks you how to sound like skrillex he puts it in the title so you can ignore him from the get go...

Now I'm pretty much a complete rookie compared to most of you, but I think it would be a good (albeit much slower) alternative if people take the time to patiently answer some people's questions, or direct them to other threads that have already answered the question. I know it used to be done a lot, but nowadays I don't see it that much. Creating a separate board would just make the problem worse--the less technically advanced people would be mushed together in a group that didn't know ANYTHING, and the technically advanced people would be together in a group that knew EVERYTHING (well, not everything, but a lot more). That doesn't seem too beneficial to anyone, in my opinion.

If its so important to read all the 'good' threads that get pushed back, click the 'next page' button and search on. If you really feel like you want to push 10 buttons more, maybe post in this 'good thread' and bump it? I mean, how lazy can you be "ahmagaad, i have to push an extra button and read through some more titles before i find some good shit".. >.>

I'm a noob, no clue. Try searching "Super noob questions  "

On the other hand while I've lurked and read legitimately following the ignore rule I don't agree with segregation and here's my reason's why (As most likely discussed)

1. This can cause noobs to keep producing crap not allowing them to learn (duh)
2. It will cause all the uppers to fail to get to know the lowers.
3. Every, yes I mean EVERY track always has SOMETHING worthwhile about it. Sure they may all sound like absolute crap together, but there's always that one ambient sound or synth or drop that you may take away from it.
4. You can always learn from the basics
5. This forum would end up being even more cluster F'd than it is now because of the fact that the mod's might get too sucked in and forget about the rest.
6. There will always be tard's wherever you look on any forum. Always repeated questions it doesn't matter where unless there's a secret sub forum which won't happen here believe me.
7. Go organize your own forum with your friends if you want that filter method that badly. This after all is one of the biggest forums in the world. Try regulating that and filtering out all the messes? No way.
8. There's that questions & Answers place for a reason.
9. Not everyone will honestly read everything, it takes time to learn and gather all the information. I know I have to ask a question three times to one of my friends in a PM or IRL and I still will learn something new out of it every time.
10. I believe it's good to want to make a sound or attempt to copy, as long as you don't get the exact same sound. Search up DJVespers on youtube (Certified teacher on this shit) find his video and voiced opinion on the matter. I think it's quite true.

You've been given shit for saying "threw" Remember man, Through. Try to capatalize your I's too. I know my grammar isn't perfect here and I probably have run on's but at least typing semi-decent will get you a tad more respect.

Hope my opinion makes sense.
