I remember one time I spilt beer on my mixer and everyone threw pikmin of many colors at me, then we all sang tribal songs and not a deck was touched, but the songs kept changing. I must have left the sync button on

Yeah I would have missed it all if it wasn't for your comment :)

Also, I didn't even know CDJs were basically like Traktor nowadays.

dubunked wrote:I personally just see no reason to not take advantage of the technology we have. Maybe sync buttons make things too easy but a grid? Really? I've just never heard anyone criticize someone for using equipment that has a grid before. And I think it's a bit ridiculous to tell other people what format they should use. Many ppl don't have 100% control over what they use.
just for your clarification this is my position. what am i, going to buy my own couple-thousand-dollars worth of CDJs because my friend's CDJs are "too easy"???

no one said that, but you should get some headphones and learn to beatmatch lol (with your ears..)

I have...... and yes that's with covering the screen with a notebook.

Also like, it's frustrating as fuck how just when you think you're doing things proper, DSF never fails to come around and tell you how you are actually a piece of shit.

Especially when half these kids probably use software/sync.

do you not find it really boring mixing with that kind of crutch?

part of the fun for me is having to constantly be paying attention, means you get more involved in the mix and focus on smaller details in the blend or whatever

also most cdjs with waveform displays are nowhere near as detailed as the nexus 2000s, you couldnt mix off them

@terpit I was clearly talking about when you can see the grid.

I've never used cdjs other than 2000nxs. I thought that's how they all were. Live and learn.

@chekov sure I guess so. You win you're right I don't really care at this point

lol i'm just curious if you havent found it more involving when you've tried doing it without relying on beat grid

^yeah the less you rely on technology the more of a challenge it is for sure, and i like the challenge. i've beatmatched without looking at the grid and sure it's fun but i'm not gonna hold a notebook over the screen every time i use the CDJs

^^^ but this is really where 99% of my stroppy reaction came from. like you're told "fuck traktor, get CDJs" over and over again and then you finally get CDJs and no surprise, DSF has deemed CDJs a no longer acceptable way to DJ. god fuck.

no lol, CDJs are acceptable, staring at the screen to mix and calling that beatmatching isn't

i just thought if you were matching the beats up without using sync then that was beatmatching. my apolojeez. when looking at the screen, i am not "beatmatching", lesson learned.
