Haha what the fuck is that guy doing.
I guess you could argue people thought the same when Hendrix was doing a crazy solo, but still

^hmmm, quite impressive the way he quietens the screamers
but the contemporary Hendrix or Floyd?
maybe today's Dennis Wilson...ah... he's the Beachboys' musical genius
(for those who didn't know who John MacLaughlin is)

In any case the modern Hendrix or Floyd needs to do a lot of drugs, because that was an essential part of their process. With that being said Flying Lotus was a pretty good suggestion. Or Madlib :)

I'm on the skeptics side re: Kanye. He did start producing bangers but that dried out pretty quickly, his MCing is wack and don't even get me started on the whole character. If this is supposed to be a source of inspiration, that's pretty scary.

maybe Trentemoller and band are about as close to the Pink Floyd big show as you'd get now days
lyrically maybe deficient but powerful, electronic and dramatic when I saw them a few years back

btw, Charlie Christian was the Hendrix of the previous generation imo
in terms of guitar innovation progressing music generally

I'm not going to tell you what Tre....... represents to me because I'm nice and wouldn't want to offend.

don't think you would
@ MrT NY midnight gig, I stood up front for 10 minutes amongst the zebras and trippers
& wasn't particularly impressed by the music or pyrotechnics
so crawled over a beer-soaked field underfoot to get away
to a little tent where a mate was playing a set of dubstep (ahhhh)

just saying Pink Floyd, represents big stadium flashbangs and mediocre music
much like Mr T, Muse etc...all seems contrived and catering to a drug-induced lack of discrimination
but then I don't like crowds and mob hysteria, so...
call me a snob
