if it gets any bigger than a couple of hundred peeps per city more in london and big cities(1000 or so, i dunno), it will turn shit, mark my words, ive seen it happen so many times before, the generally public are bandwagon jumpers, and what with electronics being the new folk anyone can do it and it will just make the whole thing stale and become a buzz word for aload of trendy bellends to use, and shit djs can drop a dubstep tune cause its cool, dont cause it fits a set........like something truly amazing like autechre can get a thousand per city but there music is just another level all togather no one comes close, because it takes really thougrth and skill and time to do, it also take time to get into it as a listern, to really absourb it, where as dubstep is really acseable as its very simple. (not that the best dubstep guys havn't put alot of thourgth into there music and made something that i think is amazing and groundbreaking) but this is just funny bass whoomp party music, that i can see going the same way as nealy every other type of music ive loved.....i've already heard dubstep 101 tunes off people.

I used to run an electronic music forum that got so depressingly bad with flaming that I had to shut the whole thing down for two weeks. It got better for a bit then the same old people kept shouting their mouths off, so I shut it down for good. That was a shame too.

However, no matter how much flaming goes on, internet forums are a lifeline for spreading music and information. It's just so easy for comments to get misinterpreted over the web - often the smallest thing can erupt into a right gnarly mess. Some people need to realise that, as well as the amount of time, money and other resources that go into running these things.

(@ 8bit - slightly off topic but when you say 'brazil is loving the sound'... can you elaborate? Besides Bruno's productions/blog and Kode 9 playing in Sao Paulo the other year, after six months living here I'm still struggling to find anyone else who's following the sound at all - and it's not for a lack of trying! Some info would be much appreciated if you can.)

thing is if the music stays like this, with the quality as high as it is then the evil corpirations will soon try to water it down, to the normal comercially viable bollox that the everyday numptys will buy. it's a bad thing to lose something you love so when 8-bit says he wants it to be played all over the world he means not thru commercial radio but the underground scene. that way we make money and get to 'keep it rougher than a badgers arse' to quote dark fm. big up 8-bit cos dem is bad man tunes ya make!!!!!

the growth of a 'scene' isnt important, its not like its a race or contest in my opinion, but its the attitudes and not the number of people of any 'scene' that insure its survival or more importantly, its creative health. i for one dont care if dubstep ever grows beyond the level its at now...
i enjoy the music and dont mind what i have to go through to obtain it or enjoy it.

seen, although it is kind of a race in my eyes, in terms of pushing things musically. true, it's not the number of people involved but maybe the producers' creativity. FWD isn't so called for nothing... i'm sure realistically though we'll reach some kind of plateau, bit too much 101 around, there'll be revivals and so on, just like with other music. think we need a bit of 101 to spur unsatisfied producers on, a point of comparison...

also yeh everybody loves the scene because it is still precisely that, a scene... we go to one off dubstep nights not just out raving, the hype over new tunes, hard to find stuff, blink and you'll miss it mp3 links and whites, would be weird if we had the choice of three or four dubstep nights a week, if we heard n-type blaring tinnily out of builders' radios as we walked past construction sites, if the release of hotflush012 was on the 6 o'clock news...

blackdown and dj chef are now part of the moderating team of 8 in total. more eyes, more opinions...can only help our moderating decisions and the overall tone/direction of the forum. we've grown so rapidly that the initial forum concept has had to adapt to the size. we've implemented a warning system so that members that cross the line are given fair notice. in the event that the member's behavior continues to cross the line, then we'll be forced to ban, based on a majority decision of all the moderators. we don't like removing members from this place, but sometimes it's got to happen.
