Not being funny mate but what other motivation could he possibly have for distributing the music other than out of love for it?

He's not making any money from it. He's not expecting anything back in return. He's not doing it to promote readership of his blog (anyone who has read it properly will know this).

So even if anyone disagree with it i think we should all remember first and foremost that he is a true soldier for the music we all love, supports his local scene, has spread the sound to lots of people and tirelessly gives props to the artists he respects.

docdoom, if someone decides to give away music that isnt theirs and without permission- whatever their incentive, there is no way that theyre gonna get let off just cause theyve supported the scene or really love the artists.

we all contribute to the scene and love the artists, but doesnt mean gutta should get some dubstep diplomatic immunity.

if hes been around so long he knew what he was doing. why state 'i havent asked the artists permission' in his blog, if it wasnt an issue?

I agree with what Luke Envoy is saying.

I would have at least asked the Artists if I can share their tunes for free and if not then fine move on. But without asking them is a bit rude. There is no consideration there, it's like he has forgotten the artists.

Having said that there was no need for the blog to shut down. All I would want to see is an appology to the artists. Nothing long, no more arguing.

hope the blogs only on a temporary hiatus, think gutter made a bit of a mistake but at the end of the day its obvious hes got a passion for the music and didnt intend to create all this controversy

Dub-boy - there's 2 parts to this thread - the valid one that Luke has about permission, and the other one that is slagging Gutta off.

Hopefully Gutta is looking through this and feeling the support from the majority of people - he acknowledged that he'd done bad when he got some private PM's - so lets all get down of our respective ivory towers now and usher this topic off the floor - Gutta will come back if he wants - totally up to him, but the world hasn't changed that much......

Intentions are one thing, but actions are another. It seemed like a bit of a shady thing to do from the get-go, especially when he caught enough flack for doing it the first time.

It seems like everyone's argument for Gutta seems to go back to how much he's done for the scene....but what about how much those artists have done for the scene, only to have 320 versions of their tunes posted on someones blog w/o their permission? I don't understand why Gutta somehow gets a pass for doing this kinda thing, that would get average joe blogger reamed into next Tuesday...

Every one of those tunes is fairly easy to track down on vinyl or legal MP3, apart from the Loefah bit on Big Apple.

Really? Can you still get all that stuff? Well I stand corrected on that, but I still say lay off him. As I said, the stakes aren't so high as to justify all this nasty talk and insults. And that's not just as a favoured blogger or something, that's just not laying the boot in for the sake of it. And let's face it, we've all copied things for people so we're all guilty in a way. Or am I missing the point?

Gutter's blog was easily the best covering this stuff. If he's taken it down permanently I think people contributing to this thread should be ashamed of themselves.

The tempa stuff's all been repressed recently, and the big apple bits are in at independence records...

But you're right There's no need to be nasty about it, but it'd still be nice if Gutta admitted he'd made a mistake and apologised.
