it's times like these that i am ok with not living on the coastline. landlocked feels much better during hurricane season.

now back in june i would not have been saying that, since we just got BATTERED by tornadic weather every other frickin day.

i guess every place has its suckitude.

He's still alive. Gustav made landfall as a Cat 2. And remember, the tragedy of Katrina wasn't necessarily the strength of the storm. It was more the shoddy workmanship revealed when the levees broke...and the lack of a government response when the city flooded. If the gov't had been on it and the levees were actually well constructed, Katrina wouldn't have caused as much damage as it had.

Charley and Andrew on the other hand.....woulda fucked any/everything in their path. Cat 4-5---get ready to have it all reduced to timber.

edited to add: Check this out!! Tis the season...

Really hoping this spins off into the ocean somewhere rather than hit NO again - remember seeing the pics from Katrina, and feeling SO uneasy about it.

All is good. I heard that business owners can start coming back to metro new or|eans tomorrow. Its not the same for the lower parishes. It will be next week before many people can come back. There's still the threat of levees breaking, no power, no services, downed trees and looters.

asap i'll get out to take pictures of the industtrial canal and check out those loose barges.

I heard Baton Rouge and Lafayette got smashed pretty hard hopefully everyone there is ok. I heard about an elderly couple who were killed by a tree falling into a house where they had taken shelter. We dodged a cannon ball this time.
