Fucking DEAD happy :D

After months of hard ebay scouring, ive fiiiinally managed to get an absoloutely fucking bargain on a new projector (after leaving my old one at a train station...ahem...probably should have mentioned that vis a vis the dumbest ninja contest)

Fucking lovely picture on my wall at a good 6ft+ size (managed to get an XGA resolution badboy within my price range finally!) and it absoloutely kicks out the brightness (~2000 lumens) to the point where it even looks sick during the day.

Cant wait to test this sucker out at night :D Tiiiiiight!

Oh yeah, and its an ex-office majobber too. Only used for the odd presentation during the day, has been regularly serviced by their IT bloke, and had the bulb replaced about 6 months ago. £100 straight up, fuckin stoked!

oh yeah! Even came with the remote (life saver for me). Its got a sick little laser pointer thing on it too...my life just got SO much more lazy/fun

Anyone into any of those gay-ball-spinny-juggly-stick-tossing-whatever-crumbly-hippy-at-the-back-of-the-psytrance-stage-at-glade type things?

Ive always been big on juggling, and beyond starting trying to learn 5 (which I swear down is fucking insane ) I kind of got a bit bored/running out of new things to do. Used to be all over the diablo until I realised its far too much fucking hassle to take the thing round with you, and I swear it literally means you must be some kind of an asshole to walk around with one of those things casually.

Ehm, then I spose im quite big on card flourishes and the like...and always had a soft spot for pen spinning

Anyhoo, last few months been having a go at contact juggling (the one nutters in city streets do with see through balls and funny outfits and lots of gay arm wavy motions) and I got to say its fucking sick! Prooooperly hard, but love dicking around with things like this. Like only having to carry around one thing too...

Anyone else up to any of these? Or is it just me and my insatiable need to fiddle

mooonths of ebay scouring :D Had some shit on the way too (bought one that turned out to have heat damage to the bulb, and through my own forgetfullness missed the paypal refund time window) Only cost me around 60 quid, and it was fully usable, just had a yellow patch in the middle and blue round the edges.

You can pick up a decent enough SVGA projector (look decent if your not sitting too close) second hand for probably around 60/70 quid again if you keep your eyes peeled. My first one that I left a train station was SVGA, was lovely and bright/clean picture and cost me 45 quid delivered :D Came with cables, worked a charm...was a sick buy that

But yeah, spend a bit of time researching projectors, and even longer on ebay and you can get yourself some bargains.

OH! And one seeeeeerious tip, is NEVER (and i mean never) trust the descriptions of the stats of the projector on ebay. Even if its in the table at the bottom from ebays database, as they are wrong SO often.

...while im here i spose i might aswell explain the other big thing. More fun than revision. My bad if you know about this, but what youre looking for as to the resolution of the projector is its "native resolution". That is the actual resolution of the projector (the number of pixels it displays). You will often see a "max resolution" which always look tantalisingly good (people might even say HD ready, or just HD, when it clearly isnt) but this is just the maximum resolution you can input into it. It then puts that through some clever computer wizardry and adjusts it into its native resolution format (and can look funny occasionaly).

And again, even if it says the native resolution is X-amount on the description, always google the make of projector first and double check its statistics somewhere like projectorcentral.com.

...for just general day time with curtains closed/night time film watching/PES or whatever, an SVGA (800x600) resolution badboy, with I reckon at least around 1000 lumens, and probably 300:1 contrast ratio should look sick as a first time projector!

Oh, and lumens = total brightness (good for day time watchin')
and contrast ratio = how many times brighter the whitest white is than the blackest black. Makes everything stand out alot more, but to be honest isnt going to make the hugest difference unless you got a nice white wall and proper darkness.

...bet you knew all that. But im bored, and needed a break from FUCKING orthopaedics.

Doesnt have to be :D

If you were willing to spend 100 quid you could easily pick up a very nice 800x600 projector. And for 150 or so you could probably get one like I just got without too much trouble.

All about playing the long game though :D Just waiting for that on perfect deal :P

All about ex-office/school use projectors imo. Often used very little, maintained well by technicians, and are often flogged cheaply when offices etc. shut down/upgrade. Keep em peeled again!
