Nero's tunes however are for the most important people of all.....the dancefloor public, who didn't get into dubstep for an education, wasn't to express there colonial root heritage or indeed meant to change the wold.....they were made, and would seem effectively used to rinse out a dance floor.

If you think a load of people on a dancefloor stroking there chin is what its all about, then use your energy and time to promote that apsect of it.Don't use it to inadevrtanly critique something that has musical and commercial dynamics your futile brain refuses to accept.

do you work for nero publicity? because if you do, this sort of bleeding heart commentary isn't helping nero one bit.

my name is Andy Leavy, no need for anyone to be shy.....i know for you guys its hard to except that someone made a successful piece of published music by giving a 90's classic a contemporary finish. but maybe if you stopped hating, took off your chinstroke fc scarf and wooly hat and took the time to fully appreciate why so many people love the tunes, as opposed to the few that don't.........then maybe, just maybe, you haters will make something of your own, or remix something as popular and indeed share the same success.

You're missing one very fundamental point.

'Sincere' WAS and STILL IS a DANCEFLOOR tune, loved by the ravers, jazz-heads, rudeboys and (as you like to refer to them) 'the dancefloor public' alike. It's musically sophisticated, without ever becoming noodley or chin stroking. Beautifully restrained in its use of sounds but still resolutely funky and tense and all without resorting to bleeding obvious, tired, lowest-common-denominator, tricks of the trade*.

...Which is exactly what this remix does.

I likes it, I like to slay crowds with monstrous tunes, it's a lot of fun making people lose it to music and this is a good tool to achieve that.

I like more complex tunes to listen to in different enviroments as well, everything has it's place and this is aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

Jobs a good un imo.

Dan Nero - Loving 90% of your output bruv, the bassline on Night Thunder is fucking amazing (from a production stand point as well as on the floor).

indeed.....but creating a vibe that somehow suggests that one form of music is somehow inferior to the other, and then to be as precise as to split a genre so finely that if you use a certain type of bassline, its makes you look like a punk, but if you eq your bass another way, you're somehow a genius.

don't you think these statements are not only derrogatory to Nero, but to every producer out there who actual publishes there work? Thus potentially damaging an otherwise fragile enough market.

I accept your point about the heart bleed comments, its how i write and make no apologies for it. But as an ex journalist, tv producer, dj and producer....my heart bleeds to think that we now feel we have to attack an artist for using a certain type of bassline......and that so many want to discredit what it a nice and simple floor smasher for the masses.

No, the reason D'n'B died is because music became templated so any one braincelled being with a laptop could make it by just filtering white noise before every drop.... and that's how i feel this music is causing dubstep to be.
Everyone wants to make the next dancefloor destroyer and make it big but they should try and be original and forget about the dancefloor, if the music is good enough it'll stand up with out pill heads reaching for the lasers.

In response to your earlier post about saying "no says how they would remix it" well i wouldn't have tried to make in a bass bin blower, i would've done a retrospective 2step kinda mix with a funky bass line, not a wobble electro thing..... but my idea is too similar to the original and wookie remix... so fuck it, i wouldn't have bothered, and neither should nero.

That's where the problem is then, I think you'll find that Nero consciously make music for people to dance to, ie it's dance music.

Once you accept this there is no argument.

Some producers make music for people to go nuts to on the dancefloor, some people make music for people to lose themselves in an insular fashion, both equally as valid.

i think nero is true to form as is burial, bar 9, rob sparx, dmz.....everybody....they don't set out to write a smasher, they just naturally do.

every producer has his fan base, audience, and indeed every critic...but having read most of the articulated points i need to wrap this up and gho for a wank.

here are my final salient points.....

1. Out of the people that constructively or abusively criticised the track, who actually writes music for a living?

2. To the DJ's......do you know the difference between dj'ing professionally and being a professional dj?

3. We all know the record was huge and so will the remix, so who's right.....the thousands that will buy it, or the few that have slated? when everyone else is saying its good, and you're one of a few saying its bad, surely you must have the introspective to accept that maybe you got it wrong.

4. The original artist like it, the labels like it, the dj's like it, the crowd like it, and no one has come up with a better idea of a remix, which lest we forget will also serve as a reference point to the golden era some of you are saying this has been stolen from.

5. The total arguement itself is obsolete and pointless, and has served as a distraction away from my normal positively and open minded self.
