just finished reading Mesrine, instinct de mort - a french autobiography about the most famous french bank robber of all times. evaded from prison in france and canada 4 times and was public enemy number 1 in both countries during the 70s until he got shot down by the police eventually in Paris after his 4th evasion.
film is out also in 2 parts with Vincent Cassel, if you not into reading, you can probably catch the film in english or with subs. fucking amazing life. well worth reading anyway.

Wonderland Avenue by Danny Sugarman
Sugarman befriended The Doors and Iggy pop in the 70s as a young kid. This book is about his rise to their management and eventual fall as a result of major herion abuse.
Its a decent book and well written considering its by a drug addled guy on death's door.
Some good drug related anecdotes too

Elvis Cream by Peter Menting. I had read his first novel, The Last Crusade. It's hilarious.
cool thing is he's put out the first 5 chapters for free download on his website so if u don't like it, u don't actually have to buy the rest of the novel...

it's actually pretty cheap anyway, i got it coz i thought the beginning was pretty funny and i really like this author. plus, looks like he is self-publishing so hats off to him.
anyway, for those intersted, here's the site...
www.petermenting.com
i recommend!

it's pretty amazing and i just started. it's a true story but the author had to twist it into fiction so it could get published.
pretty much, the author (an economic hitman) convinces developing countries to accepts large loans and funnels the money into US corporations. cheats countries out of trillions of dollars; rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, murder, sex, etc... all getting worse with globalization.
buddy later resigned from his job after 20 years because of..get this.. ..ETHICS!
pretty good book, you should definitely pick it up if you get the chance.

i really didn't like on the road, not sure what i was missing but it just dragged on and i don't think i felt any sense of adventure or excitement
and i know this would defeat the purpose of the book but i wish they'd made up their mind and staying in one place instead of going backwards and forwards across america
