I can't see your point about the Brando ending at all but I think that's probably due to me first seeing the film when I was fifteen or so so it'll always remain 'perfect' in my eyes. You may well have a point but I pretty much know the whole dialogue from the last ten minutes by heart, so, yeah, YOU CAN'T CONVINCE ME. lol

Do you mean Californication? Googly eyed elf bitch is a pretty good description though so I think we're talking about the same lass.

"still it's stronger than what it inspired" - Bold words, and I don't doubt them. Someone on here who's film knowledge/opinion I respect said it may well be their favourite sci-fi EVEN ABOVE 2001: A Space Odyssey. Glowing recommendations all round and I'm really looking forward to it but yeah, waiting for the right time.

Blade Runner is another favourite tbh. Again, I first watched that when I was fairly young so if people want to pick holes in it, go ahead, I will remain a life-long fan

While we're here, can someone advise me on Inland Empire - I like Lynch's other work i've seen but this bored/annoyed the fuck out of me. Got a whole two hours in, realised there was another hour to go and decided to fuck it off. Should I bother trying again?

Totally fair Laszlo, I have the same thing with bladerunner.
And yeah californication ..

There's just the thing that you've already seen the clooney one so maybe that will taint the original but probably not when you liked the new one? go for it.

I haven't watched 2001 which is weird- but just seen so many clips and whatnot, that that might spoil it.

ie. IE
Should I bother trying again?
Isn't it always a bit like this with the newer lynch films, that you have to watch it a couple of times to appreciate it fully?. I don't know, I think i liked how convoluted and fucked up it was. It's not like there's an ending where anything is settled as far as I recall. But it's no mulholland drive thats for sure. More like if the black hole sun video was three hours long and had a few more scary old ladies :6:

Yeah, idk, it just wasn't engaging me like Mulholland Dr., Lost Highway or even Blue Velvet. Couldn't care less about the Russian broad or the Bunnies.

I was worried that seeing the remake of Solaris would taint the original too but it gets such high praise that i'm not sure it could. We shall see!

2001 is a must really. Even though you've seen bits of it I still reckon you'll be able to get the most out of it. It's an experience and, imo, a timeless classic.

I just watched Oslo because it was suggested around here somewhere...

Good film albiet dark within all it's light....

A bit dialogue heavy - a bit predictable
-but expresses the 100% depressing nature of being white people.

I just watched the film Candy a week or so ago...
I would put these together on a shelf...the dead end drug section

Mud (2012)

Very nicely shot and decently acted, but felt entirely inconsequential. Induced one of the finest sleeps I've ever witnessed in my lady... put it on at 5pm on Saturday night, she was asleep by 5.30 and didn't wake up until gone 1am... so if nothing else, it won me some serious GTA hours.

Tina: What's Love Got To Do With It (1993)

Surprisingly well done. Unsurprisingly hard going.

Skarsgard told The Hollywood Reporter the film is "sexually explicit but, believe me, it will be a very bad wanking movie"

another bit that must've been pretty funny with a Trier production was that It was Dr Steve Bruhl that tried to get Mandalay pulled because a donkey was sacrificed on set, imagine that.

The small bits with the rabbits in in Inland Empire was based on an earlier short film he did just called Rabbits.

The whole of that is on youtube somewhere and I actually liked it. I mean it's one where you have to go back and work out for fucking ages what it could possibly mean but as just an experience of watching it it's really atmospheric and has really cool sound in it.

Are you talking about Inland Empire in it's entirety there or just the Rabbits short film?

rabbit is great i saw it in his website dont know if it still there, but inland empire is probably my less favourite lynch film (exept for dune). It had some really good moments but i thought that it was too long and half of the film exceeded

Just the Rabbits short film Lazlo. It's practically impossible to follow until you sit and think about it all for a while but I found it enjoyable as a watch anyway for the general vibes throughout. The end actually gets quite tense.

not sure what to say  maybe you should see it with the control in your hand and pass it foward when it gets boring.

Well I previously got to the two hour mark and then sacked it off coz it was doing my head in... If I have to fast forward I hardly see the point at all..

the story is not really important in the film imo is just three or four scenes that worth it ...but i guess your right dont waste your time and watch a good film.Forbiden Zone for example.

Now that we are talking about surrealist films that we dont know what we feel about then, what does my ninjas think of Holy Motors?? i was between :cornlol: and :corntard:

Laszlo -definitely watch all his other films first, then go to one of his seminars where he talks about meditation and then watch it on a phone while you're there.

Or just smoke some moroccan hash and force it. :dunce:
